The "Whacko Neighbors" Thread

Don't know if this has been done before as the search feature tis no more. How about we lay all of our neighborly issues out on the planet and let the judge and jury decide what you should do the next time you and "the neighbors" are face to face across the street.
----------------------------------------------------------
Moved into a new neighborhood last June and I wouldn't say we were "welcomed" per se...no fresh baked pies, knock on the door & a handshake. Kind of expected though being where we are in society.

"The neighbors" across the street, late 30s couple (same as us) with a 3yr old daughter (we have a 3yr old daughter and a 1 yr old son). I've had a couple conversations with the guy and seems ok, known as the neighborhood drinker/partier....cool by me. The wife has a slight lisp which may contribute to the following: my wife has tried multiple times to strike up conversation with her being that they are both stay at home moms, to no avail. The wife actively straight up ignores her in common one-on-one situations. My wife will say "hi" she'll turn around and go inside.

"Different strokes for different folks" is what my grandma would always say.
"Sometimes you don't want to know people any more than a simple neighborly acknowledgment and should consider it a blessing"

I went to look and it was my 22 pound Siamese Cat whipping his tail while watching the dog shit in my yard. His name was Sebastian i always thought he was just a big puss. He never went outside ever. So while the dog was in my yard i slowly opened my door. Sebastian was on point. He slid out the door and bounded about four times then leaped on top of this probably 50 pound dog. He destroyed that dog. Hair was flying and the sound, oh the sound. When he was done Sebastian came back in like nothing ever happened. Needless to say that dog never shit in my yard again. Which was great as I had kids that their shoes were like shit magnets.
Oh man, I hate neighbors that let their dogs roam free to crap in others' yards. Had a neighbor do that a couple years ago. It was a house 2 doors down. She was loading kids in the car and allowed the dog to roam over to my yard. I had been finding dog crap in my yard but was never sure who was doing it. So I happened to be walking outside when I see the dog in my front yard taking a crap. I yelled at the neighbor to get over here and clean up her dog's shit. She did clean it up and that was the last time that happened.

Wonder what happened to that guy...
Did he stop by your house and ask you some questions, stating that he was taking a survey?

heh, I guess this is a good thread to shame one of my friends I grew up with.

He lived on Sterling. He somewhat liked his neighbor that lived next door but would get pissed because he would constantly ask him to help with home improvement stuff (my friend is somewhat capable for these tasks) and ask him to clear their shared driveway because the neighbor was aging. The neighbor was mid-60's.

Well, my friend hadn't seen the neighbor in a couple months and he didn't think anything of it. Another 2 months passes and someone calls in a welfare check on his neighbor (not sure who, relative, employer, whatever). My friend comes home to a driveway full of cops. Turns out the guy had a heart attack and had been dead almost 3 months.

He would never stop when I was there. I believe my ex-wife "filled out some surveys" though.

I do remember his alarm system was going off one day and he was gone. I went to the house to investigate. I didn't see anyone, but upon gazing through the window I was shocked to see photographs of stick figures on his mantle.

I have no doubt that your ex-wife participated in some polling with a debonair fellow like that.

The neighbors behind me have tires stacked up almost the height of my backyard fence, stacked right next to said fence. My fence looks like it could fall down any day now. Unfortunately I live outside the city limits so there's nothing the law can do. I guess I'll have to ask nicely if they'll store the tires elsewhere as it's first ruining my fence, also the tires collect water which draws mosquitoes.

I could just push on the fence which would topple some of the tires over, but I thought I'd try the diplomatic route first. They also have a German Shepherd in the backyard and I'm going to start throwing candy bars over the fence if the dog starts barking again.

It's not legal,at least in the state of mo, to store tires like that.

The dept of conservation comes and checks in that stuff around here. I would check into it and complain. They will at the very least go thee and make them do something about the mosquito haven.

Dish soap or bleach will make the larvae die and the Mosquitos breed somewhere else.
