So... I live in Denver now.
tl;dr - I moved to Denver, checking the city out, anyone want to watch football Sunday?

I arrived on Saturday and watched Denver got tossed around by the Colts on tv the following day. Awesome.

Scouting the city for where to live. Unsure if we want an apartment in Denver proper and live the city life or if we want to go to Boulder and do the mountain thing. Either is good though... just glad to be out of Wichita.

Also looking at employment. I refused a position at Comcast because I could not bear to going back to troubleshooting for people. If nothing else comes up then at least that job is there as a fallback. Looking at a Subaru dealership (I drive a WRX) in customer service/relations. Don't know that I want to do auto sales but who knows... likely start a part time gig at a liquor store to make some money and get out of the apt.

I'm typically an introvert but I can't come to Denver and stay in my room. I'm heading out to the Voodoo Comedy lounge tonight... they have a drop in improv class. If anyone wants to watch football next Sunday... let me know.

Humidity is really underrated as a measure of quality of life. I've been to Virginia a couple of times recently, and their cold weather is way colder our cold weather, even at the same temperature. The humidity is far more chilling.

And humidity in the summer? Don't even go there. I go back to Missouri to visit family and can barely breathe any more on hot days.

Low humidity is awesome.

I was in Kansas City last week. 6 degrees with 30% humidity and 25 mph sustained winds. Yes, "how do I handle those winters in Denver!" It really isn't comparable.

While there is no denying that Colorado is one of the best places to live in the U.S., it is hard to compare the weather here across the board with other locations. I grew up in Missouri and did some hard time in Oklahoma and Kansas before finally moving to Denver several years ago. Missouri was hot and humid in the summer while the winters were bad mid December through first part of March. The other times were good to go. Oklahoma has hot, humid and unbearable summers. Kansas just has all kinds of crappy, windy weather but like Oklahoma it is a place that most people don't want to live.

As I have grown older I find that I have less tolerance for snow and cold and realize that warmer climates are for me. I just got back from two weeks in the Caribbean where it was humid and 70-80 degrees every single day and I absolutely loved it. It was perfect weather for whatever you wanted to do outside. Sailing, snorkeling and swimming almost every day.

Colorado weather is great June to October but other times of the year it is a total crapshoot on what you will get. Of all the places I have lived I can't recall winter conditions lasting as long as they do in Colorado. I know the last couple of years my boys were in school they had snow days in mid-May. We never had that in Missouri or the other places that I have lived. We plan on keeping our Colorado house when we retire but will only be living here in the summer. Winter time I will be soaking up the sun somewhere in SoCal, Florida or possibly the Caribbean.

It's 35 degrees today. Clear blue skies. You can see traces of snow on the street and capped mountains everywhere you look.

Not only are people not wearing jackets today, they're barely wearing sweatshirts.

I grew up a beach girl. I can close my eyes and smell the ocean. I could swim before I could walk. I would pick a handful of beaches over Colorado for sure.

Maybe a couple handfuls.
But that's about it.

i definitely preferred boulder when i couldn't be up higher in the mountains...

but then i'm an old '60s kinda guy...
