Late night bullshit: our coverage scheme.

One of the things that made scouting CBs so easy last year was looking for tall corners who played a ton of press man. I even had Gaines pegged months before we selected him.

I don't know what facilitated the change in 2014, but we went primarily off man (occasionally maddeningly so). I don't know if Sutton went that way because of a perceived lack of talent after cutting Flowers, or if he thought it was a superior scheme, but it clearly worked out.

What do you think precipitated the scheme change and what do you see the Chiefs doing in 2015?

I really do see them heavily addressing WR for starters. Since Jeff Linkenbach couldn't fill back up roll, we may go Guard too. I'd love to see us gather an experienced receiver though. I'd love Cobb - ha ha ha.

I don't see Cobb leaving Green Bay.

I do see the Chiefs throwing a couple bandaids at ILB and secondary while snapping whatever necks they need to to get WR and OL upgrades.

I don't think I want the MU guy the ex Eagle. Maclin. I'm sure he's better than anyone we have - but he's fairly fragile. I want a beast. Oh well - I'm signing off the night - peace all.

Our playoff loss to Indy. If we had played that game like we played this year we'd have won the Superbowl

Defensively, you have to give credit to Dorsey/Sutton for making adjustments. Sutton's Ryan scheme plays quite a bit of 2-gap, yet Dorsey admitted he made a mistake in year 1 of relying too much on that. He said he brought in Vance Walker because he thought D-linemen needed to be more in attack mode. Even if Walker wasn't great, Howard and Vickerson ended up playing well for us. He brought in Dee Ford because he believes with QB's quick releases, you need very fast speed rushers to get to the QB. It wouldn't surprise me if he did the same with corners. Gaines can play man, but he's a burner.

If only the offense would make the same kind of adjustments.
