Would You Welcome the Chiefs Leaving to Rid Yourself of the Hunts?

Bill Simmons' column on Daniel Snyder made me think about this again.

Over the last forty years there have been two consistent themes with the Chiefs: futility and the Hunt family.

If you were presented with the option of the Chiefs leaving for LA and getting a new franchise in Kansas City in 2018 would you take that deal, or is your loyalty to the Chiefs alone too great?

I will say that I'd want a "keep the name" situation... just because I don't want to have to re-buy my whole wardrobe.

NBA offenses in this decade are balletic compared to the basketball of the mid-90s, which focused entirely upon clearing out one side of the floor so that the star could iso against his man.

Defenders are more athletic and skilled and don't rely on mugging the ball-handler to get stops, and everyone on the court is a superior shooter to 10-20 years ago.

What makes the post even more ironic is that it occurs on a forum dedicated to a professional football team, given that the quality of play in the NFL is jaw-droppingly bad right now.
You obviously watch and follow the NBA much more than I do, so I will take your opinion more seriously than I would others. I used to be a huge fan of the NBA (Magic, Bird, Michael era), and when I watch the game now I have a hard time staying interested. To me, the game seems to have migrated to offenses based on setting up the three point shot or the highlight reel dunk.

I disagree about the shooting being improved, but I'm sure there are stats that back up your claim. Personally, I get no enjoyment out of watching an NBA game anymore. Maybe I'll give it another chance after the Chiefs' season is over in two weeks. The only problem with that is I was always a Lakers fan and they suck right now.

I just don't get it. In 2012 fans revolted to get new coach/GM, but in the worst season in team history no one talked about the team leaving. Since we are rebuilding, have gone 11-5 last year and the worst we can do this year (with the toughest schedule in the NFL) is 8-8. Things are looking up, and you guys now want the team to leave?

Doen't make a bit of sense. You are the most fickle people I've ever seen. No matter what happens the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Even when the other side of the fence is a new team that is guaranteed to suck for years.

This is the mentality that I disagree with. So somehow fans of a team (even a new team) who get to see their team win in the postseason, are somehow less of a fan then you? Do you not see how warped that thinking is? So to you, the only fans that exist in the country are fans of the Chiefs, Lions, Browns right? Cause every other team hasnt had to put up with 40 years of shitty as teams?

I got news for you. Seeing your team win in the postseason, is just as sweet and as fleeting as those fans who have been waiting for 40 years.

Look at San Fran. They went to the superbowl, two years ago. Now look at them, all up in arms over missing the post season. Do you really think that the CHiefs (ever) get to the superbowl will be anything more than a week long coverage and then it's on to the next thing.

Sure for you, and the other 5 chiefs fans, it'll be great. You were alive when the chiefs made it to the superbowl again. Someday you'll get to tell your great great grandkids that you saw RG3 lead the Chiefs to the Superbowl. But to your kids, who got sick of waitin on the chiefs, and switched to the packers (#gopackgo) got to see a superbowl every other 3 years.

You being a fan has nothing to do with postseason 'sweetness' of victory

Fans that see their team win? No, not at all. Fans of new teams that have championships thrown in their laps? Absolutely.

No. You'd have to be an idiot to take that from what I typed.

San Fransisco has three decades of success (with some very down periods mixed in).
If the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, in Kansas City it would be HUGE for quite a bit longer than a week.

And, you've become a weirdo, again. What the hell does any of this even mean? Yes, some people lack integrity, and are fair weather fans. Some people jump from team to team and starter jacket to starter jacket based on who is the most popular. I guarantee wins are FAR less "sweet" for those losers than for a fan who sticks with one team through the good and the bad.
As to your last sentence, can you try it again in English, please?

Someone is jealous of teams that find success quickly, like a SB victory could not be as satisfying without long extreme suckage first.

I'm absolutely jealous. No doubt about it.

However, I guarantee that the amount of enjoyment had by fans that had it dropped into their laps is not nearly that of fans that were there during the struggling times.

You think an Arizona Diamondback fan had as much emotion about their world series win in 2001, after 3 long years of waiting, as a Red Sox fan in 2004?

I can't imagine that being true.

I showed the thread to 7 former STH in the office and 6 out of 7 of them are glad they're "former" STHs (the 7th just didn't have the money anymore). Like me they've saved thousands and thousands of dollars over the years and except for that one person, can still go to any game they want for a LOT less coin.
