Tamba is definitely declining. He had 12 sacks and 62 QB hurries last year. This year he's on pace for 8 sacks and 32 QB hurries.

Even declining, Tamba is still a top 10 pass rusher this season. But you'll be able to see it later in the season. Last year he looked so gased at the end.
I think you'll see Dee Ford rotating with him soon to keep him fresh.

Mellinger could be right. Berry is a nice feature, but he's by no means critical to this defense

Look at what Demarcus Ware got...or what Terrell Suggs took to stay home.

Or what Emmanuel Sanders got in free agency as a guy coming into his prime.

Tamba and Dwayne need to understand that the market for their services has been effected by age and that their guaranteed money is gone.

I read a piece the other day about defense building and when you look at alot of the more successful defenses, for the most part, they're built from the middle out. Stout in the middle, DL ILB S etc.

Not sure I agree with it, but it was interesting

Those are the guys that we must keep money in the pocket for.
I'd like to keep Berry, but not for $8m.

I miss DJ. We really got a glimpse last Sunday of what we are missing. JMJ got owned in the run game.

I love Tamba, but if he wants to take the money, it's his right.

I think it's cool when guys finish with the team they start with. Hope we can keep them both

Berry may want 8 or 9.

But he was the last of the rookie deals, so he gets what the current market says or he can leave

Mellinger wrote that article after I was pounding that drum for 2 weeks. I took endless guff for that opinion and it's nice to feel vindicated on these topics from time to time.

Here's one of those threads... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showt...y#post10535813

I've said for a long long time that Berry isn't worth top dollar IF USED AS A BOX SAFETY.

Apparently the chiefs agree as he hasn't been that this season.

No way, not when you consider all DEs and OLBs.

If Hali can continue providing that leadership and continue to give us 7-10 sacks per year while swapping in & out with Ford, then I'm all for it.
Hali will probably be a 5-sack guy next year.

Bowe is only gonna be better next season as he and Smith get more comfortable. His numbers are IMPROVING.

Come on, people.

No question Bowe is improving.

That's not the point.

He isn't worth 14 million when guys like Sanders get 6
