Posnanski... I think it was Posnanski, had a blog about that recently. Not just the lack of walks... but the fact that the Royals are consistently leaders at avoiding strikeouts too. Hitters put the ball in play. It's clearly an organizational philosophy, which is why the team hits for good average but not much else.

What is Shields going to bring back? A 75-100 ranked prospect? Nobody deals off top 20 prospects at the deadline. Those guys have way too much future value and they're cheap. Even big market teams need to develop and then play some of those guys
