Man, it looks like the options at 23 are going to be boss.

Scott Wright just released a two round mock.

We went with Brandin Cooks:

Quote:
In less than a year the Chiefs went from the worst team in the league to one of the best. It’s amazing what the addition of a competent head coach and quarterback can do for a franchise. However, after going undefeated through the first couple months of the season the Chiefs tailed off down the stretch leaving no doubt that there are still some issues to iron out. Perhaps the most significant is at wide receiver, where there isn’t much to get excited about beyond Dwayne Bowe. Oregon St. WR Brandin Cooks is coming off an outstanding final college campaign in which he racked up an eye-popping 128 receptions for 1,730 yards and 16 touchdowns for the Beavers. An explosive athlete with elite speed and terrific hands and ball skills who can create after the catch, Cooks would be a perfect compliment to Bowe and give the Chiefs offense a dynamic, big play dimension that they are currently lacking. Marqise Lee of USC, Kelvin Benjamin of Florida St. and Odell Beckham of L.S.U. Brandin Cooks | Oregon St. Beavers are alternate options or they could even choose to wait a round or two and take advantage of the tremendous depth that this class offers at the position. If by some miracle Alabama ILB C.J. Mosley were to fall this far that would be an ideal fit and Kansas City could also consider Louisville S Calvin Pryor to team with Eric Berry. A hallmark of Andy Reid’s tenure in Philly was a tendency to address the offensive and defensive lines in the early rounds of the NFL Draft so watch out for a offensive guard or defensive end too.
The other options remaining on the board:

QB Derek Carr, Fresno State
WR Kelvin Benjamin, Florida State
WR Odell Beckham, Jr., LSU
WR Jordan Matthews, Vanderbilt
TE Jace Amaro, Texas Tech
OT Cyrus Kouandjio, Alabama
OG David Yankey, Stanford
OG Xavier Sua-Filo, UCLA
DE/DT Ra'Shede Hageman, Minnesota
DE/DT Stephon Tuitt, Notre Dame
DE/OLB Kony Ealy, Missouri
ILB Ryan Shazier, Ohio State
CB Darqueze Dennard, Michigan State
CB Bradley Roby, Ohio State
CB Kyle Fuller, Virginia Tech

I would not mind giving up a pick next season for one this year.

Most likely place he goes to would be Jets or Balt if he goes top 20. But then again, Jets want to switch to a more run oriented attack while Balt also likes their WRs to be able to run block.

This draft is loaded with talent and the Chiefs are in a prime position to trade down and stockpile picks. We absolutely have to trade down a couple times at least. We need to get a second round pick back and we need to add another third rounder. We have to hit on those picks. We can't have misses in the early rounds if we expect to make the playoffs next season.

Ideally yes but, I really wonder about how many teams will want to trade up with all this talent? It seems like you could stay where you are on the first couple of days and get good players. I have a feeling there won't be as many trades this year as there were the past couple of years in the first three rounds.

The best chance we have at getting a second round pick is trading a player imo. Flowers seems like the most likely candidate to me. He doesn't seem to fit anymore. He's not in the mold of the three tall CBs they signed last year and he didn't work out in the slot. He took a step back last year imo. If we got a 2nd and a 5th for him I would be cool with it.

Just have to hope a team falls in love with somebody and comes calling.

Im not going to be too harsh on Flowers because he did deal with a nagging injury but he is going to have to stay healthy and perform better this season.

Cooper and Parker are real keys to the defense. If they both can improve we can have four solid CB's. I'd be ok with signing Nate Allen to compete with Commings at FS.

While I agree on Dennard being overrated, I don't necessarily agree with this CB class sucking. I think there is some really good talent in spots. Good year to snag a slot corner in the mid rounds. Good year to get a starter with about 5 guys being 1st round worthy. Could be some late gems. There are certain players overrated that should move to safety like Jean-Baptist and McGill, but other than that its solid.

Dude, McGill isn't playing safety.

He's got very good hips and feet, has a ridiculous wingspan, a superb vertical, runs a 4.5 and he's a legit 6'3", 215 lbs. ripped.

There isn't a team in the league that wastes those types of measurables at safety. It's why he was moved to CB by the Utes in college. It's why he's going to play CB in the NFL.

And he's going to be good.

He's a solid character guy, comes from a good family and plays and practices hard.

But, like Moncrief, he's not going to be there past the second round.

Chiefs would love to have about six picks in the second in this draft.

Moncrief, McGill, Van Noy, my boy Gabe Jackson, Attaochu, Hyde, Matthews, etc.

You could build a monster team with the guys who are going to be there in the second.

Won't be the Jets. They just shot their load for WR on Decker.
