Do you think the NFL is "rigged?"

Pretty simple question: Do you think the NFL is "rigged?"

Specifically, do you believe the NFL has a preferred outcome for games AND orders its officiating crews to make calls for/against teams for the purpose of achieving that preferred outcome?

Believing the NFL is rigged and continuing to watch means you are either a mongoloid, or you're being insincere when you say you think it's rigged.

I can't believe this was ever a serious topic of discussion. Losers whine about nonsense like games being "fixed".

Why? People watch TV shows that are scripted. People watch pro wrestling, which has predetermined outcomes. Why does it matter? It can still be entertainment.

It's obvious that certain games are at least slanted...

is the "rigged" crowd enjoying the latest script? Or is the league not rigged anymore?

No, the Chiefs couldn't have been the NFL's favored team to play in the Superbowl over the even smaller, and less marketable, Tennessee Titans.

Funny thing is that I think the Chiefs win either way, but they definitely got the long end of the stick from the refs.
The only part you're wrong about here is that the market size, Nashville is bigger and a vastly growing city.

I had the same thoughts. I don't think the game is entirely scripted or rigged like stupid WWE, but I think sometimes they sway certain games towards a preferred outcome through officiating. I've noticed this year we've had a hell of a lot less bullshit calls than usual. Especially in the playoffs.

Mahomes. Would have never been this way with Alex. He is just not marketable at all.

It helps when your team has the NFL's most marketable player.

It's amazing how having a great team and a great QB means your team is not in a position to lose games on a missed call as often

I go back and forth on this, but I definitely think it's absurd to compare it to WWE. There is no script and players are not in on some league-wide conspiracy.

What I've believed for awhile is that there's an effort to keep certain games close to maintain a TV audience (see: Texans regular season game this year, Pitt last year), and that superstars/big markets are more likely to get crucial calls (which is generally the case in any pro sport).

There's also the possibility that certain players are on the take in certain games, although I think that's pretty rare now that they're paid millions. It appears to have been pretty common in the 60s/70s (when players like Lenny Dawson had to have side jobs to make ends meet).

I don’t think it’s rigged in the manner that there is a WWE type script.

I do think that bigger markets and superstar players tend to get better treatment from officials though. But that is true of all sports.

If the NFL was rigged, then why did the league allow Tennessee to beat Lamar Jackson and rob the fans of a Lamar-Mahomes conference title game?

If the NFL was rigged, then why would the league have allowed that 3rd and forever pass interference call on us last game that led to the Titans going up 17-7 on us and putting the game in jeopardy for KC, who would’ve pretty clearly been the “preferred team” in a rigged scenario?

I don’t think it’s rigged. I think certain officials have subtle, perhaps even subconscious biases towards certain teams and players. I think after a certain amount of winning, officials were scared to penalize Brady and Belichick at crucial points because they simply didn’t expect mistakes like that from New England. But no I don’t think it’s rigged.

The NFL is better off with it not being rigged anyway. Let the teams just play and 99% of the time the better team and the more marketable player will make it to the big stage without the help of the refs anyway. Why risk a league destroying scandal when it isn’t necessary in the first place?
