“He was expendable, so I expended him.”

Chiefs’ Hali doesn’t practice because of sore knee

By RANDY COVITZ

The Kansas City Star

DAVID EULITT

Chiefs outside linebacker Tamba Hali

Outside linebacker Tamba Hali joined the Chiefs’ list of walking wounded when he was to be held out of practice on Wednesday because of a knee injury.

Hali, who is second on the team with six sacks, has missed just one game in his seven-year career because of injury, in 2008. Hali also missed the season opener against Atlanta because of a one-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, and Andy Studebaker started in his place.

Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel said the following players were to be limited in Wednesday’s practice: wide receiver Dexter McCluster (head); offensive tackle Branden Albert (back); safety Kendrick Lewis (shoulder) and center Ryan Lilja (knee).

McCluster was cleared to participate in a walk-through and individual drills but has to wait until Thursday to practice.

Roster move

The Chiefs released linebacker Bryan Kehl, who joined the team on Oct. 3 and appeared in three games on special teams. Crennel said he’ll fill the open roster spot by the weekend.

“There are a lot of spots that are problems for us,” Crennel said. “If I knew exactly what I was going to do, I would do it today. I’m going to take a couple of days here or a day and then decide.”

Asked why the Chiefs released Kehl now before the club determined whether it would sign a street free agent or promote someone from the practice squad, Crennel said: “He was expendable, so I expended him.”

When the heat came on the team, Pisoli went into every man for himself mode. I'm sure he's trying to convince Chunt it's all Roleo's fault. Just like with Haley

Could be. There was some talk around here last week that Pioli had been absent around Arrowhead. Haven't heard if he has showed his face around there since or not.

I don't really know how I feel about that. Makes me think that he is definitely gone. But why the secrecy? I realize that that's the Chiefs way, but with the lousy state of team, wouldn't the owner want to get out front and sing "ding dong the witch is dead?"

Is that against the contract agreement or something?? Like he can't begin to look for a new GM until after the season?? I'm not a contract guy for sure, so it's a serious question.

Judging by the tone of Romeo's pressers, he just doesn't give a sh*t anymore because he knows he's done. I want to believe that Clark has the balls to clean house and get the team back to form, but I guess I've been a Chiefs fan for far too long...

Romeo knows he's gone regardless. If Pioli gets fired, he's collateral damage. If Pioli is retained, he's the #1 scapegoat.

The Patriot Way is so funny that way. Loyal to the point of being blind on the way in, selfish to the point of being evil on the way out.

Holy Jesus, Romeo Crennel is even dumber than I thought.

At first I he was just clueless and in over his head...but now I see that he is just really, really ****ing stupid.

So has anybody reported on Pioli being at Arrowhead lately, or is he still MIA?

Have not heard. Maybe a Pioli watch thread is in order?
