I would challenge that you didn't hit the right spot. You can get all the advice you want but it's personal taste and most Philly places make the same sandwich pretty different. Some are dry, some are juicy. Breads are often totally different. Etc.... Many would argue the best Philly's don't have long lines because they're not cooking en masse.

In either event, the worst Philly's in Philly are better than the best in most other places. It's all about the bread. Don't think many places use fresh baked amoroso bread which is what really sets a good Philly apart.

I get if you don't like the sandwich in general though, especially if you don't like grease.
