The Chiefs have every advantage - salary cap, revenue sharing, the ability to walk away from costly mistakes because of no guaranteed contracts - and still haven’t ascended to the heights the Royals have twice in the past 40 years despite all the things stacked against them.
I don’t think it will be 3 decades before they’re good again (and to be fair, the Royals were still a respectable franchise from 1986-1995, it really was a 15-20 year wandering in the wilderness).
It takes competing leadership and a guy with a good plan calling the shots.

At least the Royals took advantage of their opportunities. Even falling to Madbum in game 7 felt like the little guy trying to slay the giant, not your typical post season bed wetting that the Chiefs are known for year in year out.
