Enjoy the read. A parting shot for a while. C'est la vie.

Chiefs release P Dustin Colquitt, SS Daniel Sorensen, OL Cam Erving
Veach works some deals to get picks for players and simultaneously free up cap to re-sign key players:
Chiefs trade WR Sammy Watkins to the Green Bay Packers for 4th round pick #133 and 6th round pick #209. The Packers were interested when he was a free agent and have the opportunity to re-work his deal to fit better with their tighter cap.
Chiefs trade OG Laurent Duvernay-Tardif to the Miami Dolphins for a 4th round pick #142 (Comp)

Chiefs re-sign:
QB Matt Moore - 1 year, $3.0 million which includes a $1.5m signing bonus
CB Kendall Fuller - 3 years, $15.67 million which includes a $5.1m signing bonus. (Cap hits est. 2.77, 5.95, 6.95 sim to B. Skrine, N. Roby-Coleman)
DT Mike Pennel, TE Blake Bell, FB Anthony Sherman, S Jordan Lucas on veteran minimum deals
TE Deon Yelder, OL Andrew Wylie, WR Marcus Kemp on ERFA tenders
LB D. Wilson - 2 yr Extension, convert 2.0m of 2020 base salary to signing bonus and add $1.75m bonus, fully guarantee remaining $1.2m salary in 2020. Additional years create a 3-year $15.0m deal and frees up $750k for 2020 (sim A.J. Klein)
DT Chris Jones - 5 years, $100.0 million with $42.32 million guaranteed including a $25.0 million signing bonus (Cap hits est. 6.5, 22.0, 23.0, 23.5, 25.0 sim to F. Clark, T. Flowers, D. Lawrence)
DE Emmanuel Ogbah - 3 years, $18 million wiht $6.0 million guarantee (yr 1 est 3.0m sim A. Okafor)
Chiefs sign FAs:
CB Vernon Hargreaves, III (HOU) - 1 year, $2.0 million which includes a $1.15m signing bonus (sim to Bashaud Breeland)
RG/C G. Glasgow (DET) - 5 years, $55.5m which includes a $11.5m signing bonus and $20.0m guaranteed at signing (yr 1 est 9.25m sim M. Morse, G. Jackson, T. Turner, R. Saffold)

Draft
1-32 CB A.J. Terrell, Clemson (6'1" 195)
The Chiefs have failed to adequately address the CB position in the draft for years and it's beginning to catch up with them by having 3 free agents at the position and another set to hit next year. They have to bring more rookie contracts in. Terrell is a big corner that mirrors receivers well, has good hips overall and can click and close relatively well for his size. Solid tackler.

2-63 (f/SF) LB Logan Wilson, Wyoming (6'2" 241)
The Chiefs have had problems at linebacker for years and we're looking at another case of the same here. They need to add more youth and better players into the fold. Wilson is a do-everything linebacker that doesn't get near enough hype. He can defend the run and pass and may be the draft's best tackler.

3-96 WR Van Jefferson, Florida (6'1" 200)
Letting go of your #2 and #3 receivers is never a good offseason, so KC will need to restock. Jefferson runs pro routes already and showcases good hands, can get off press, and has good agility. He shows enough speed on tape to be an effective player and should be able to quickly contribute.

4-133 (f/GB) SS K'Von Wallace, Clemson (5'11" 206)
Letting go of Dan Sorensen would be a big blow unless you can find a way to replace that skill set. Wallace is a Swiss-Army Knife kind of safety that can come down in the box, play the slot, and play deep. He has sneaky, underrated, speed and was a reliable player in Clemson's defense.

4-135 TE Dalton Keene, Virginia Tech (6'4" 255)
The TE position behind Kelce has been futile at best. Keene is a really good receiver with a ton of work needed as an NFL in-line blocker. I think it's easier to teach a TE to become an effective blocker than teach the nuances of being a good receiver.

4-142 (f/MIA) RB La'Mical Perine, Florida (5'11" 216)
The Chiefs' stable of backs behind Damien Williams is pretty atrocious. They need to address the position at least once in the offseason. Perine is a big back with solid ability in all facets, showing good contact balance and receiving ability, something Veach covets.

5-177 OL Tyre Phillips, Mississippi State (6'5" 331)
The Chiefs will need to look to replace swing-tackle this offseason and Phillips is a guy they've been looking at. Phillips played left tackle at MSU but is better suited as a RT or RG. He'd have the ability to compete to start at guard immediately.
6-209 (f/GB) OL Jon Runyan, Michigan (6'4" 306)

The Chiefs have solid but unspectactular guards in Rankin and Wylie, and Allegretti is an unknown. They need to keep filling in the depth and developing guys here. Runyan has a great bloodline, so maybe he becomes a better pro with a move to guard.
