Chiefs Alternate History Madden Franchise: Can Joe Montana take KC back to the SB?

Return of Mals: Joe Montana Edition

Downloaded a 1993 NFL Roster updated for Madden 17 last night.

All teams and players are edited to reflect their 1993 counterparts. Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Warren Moon and JOE MONTANA are all on this roster along with every other starter AND backup from 1993. This roster is so accurate it has Andre Ware on the Lions. Titans serve as the Oilers, Texans and Jags are full of generic assholes.

Chiefs have Joe, Marcus, DT, Smith, Carter, etc. Whoever did this is a genious and even got the player equipment right. Faces are computer-generated and coaches are wrong, but can't have everything.

The goal: get the Chiefs back in the SB with Montana at starting QB. Franchise will run until Joe retires. Not allowed to switch QBs.

LET'S DO THIS!

Good call on the WR help. I think you'll have much more options. Walls is a nice addition there also.

Deion is going to be a freak along with Carter. Talk about shut down.

I still worry about the linebacking core. I think that's your weakest area.

1994 Preseason Report

Chiefs finish 2-2

Quote:
Passing

Joe Montana 22-33, 327 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT 123.3 QBR

Steve Bono 42-60, 422 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT 95.2 QBR

Rich Gannon 39-69, 588 yards, 4 TD, 4 INT, 79.8 QBR
Clearly Steve Bono will be the backup amirite

Quote:
Rushing

Marcus Allen 8 carries, 39 yards

Lamar Smith 33 carries, 105 yards, 2 TD

Greg Hill 18 carries, 74 yards, 1 TD
The coaching staff was unimpressed with Hill, who had a 39-yard run and did squat else, and Smith, who fumbled twice. So they signed a free agent before preseason game #4.

Spoiler!

WE GON GET YOU A RING, SON. Dickerson had 12 carries for 45 yards in the last game.

Quote:
Receiving

Wesley Walls 19 catches, 172 yards, 1 TD

Ed McCaffrey 17 catches, 308 yards, 1 TD

Ernest Givins 8 catches, 140 yards, 1 TD

Quinn Early 8 catches, 120 yards, 1 TD
The coaching staff really liked what the receivers did in preseason, and Ed McCaffrey was a huge surprise.

Quote:
Defense

Sam Adams - 16 tackles, 5 TFL, 3 sacks, 3 FF

Rob Fredrickson - 20 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 2 FF

Deion Sanders - 15 tackles, 1 INT, 2 PD
Sam Adams was an absolute monster and Rob Fredrickson looked really good. Very high on these two young men.

Louie Aguiar had a tremendous preseason, with a 49.7/43.6 gross/net average.

Preseason highlights:

Sam Adams

Heath Shuler hooking up with Bert Emanuel

Easy Ed

Gannon to McCaffrey

Greg Hill's one good play

Ernest Givins makes a big play

Montana to Early

Deion ****ing Sanders!

The Chiefs rounded out their roster with some FA signings:

HB Eric Dickerson
CB Tim Jacobs
WR Reggie Thornton
SS Bill Bates
QB Dan McGwire (practice squad)

Chiefs open the season at Miami against Dan Marino and the Dolphins.

1994 schedule:

@MIA
@WAS
@OAK SNF
NYG
DAL
SD
@IND
DEN MNF
CLE SNF
@PHI
@SD
OAK SNF
NYJ
@BUF
VS NE
@DEN

Players gain XP after every week. Your choice how to spend that XP or let it accumulate and spend more in a week or 2.

Complete lack of expansion teams on that schedule. Gonna be a tough year.

Week 1: Chiefs @ Dolphins.

The Chiefs flew down to a rain-soaked Miami to face Dan Marino and the Dolphins.

Spoiler!

The Chiefs go to Washington next to face big-ticket FA Scott Mitchell and the Redskins. Rookie pass rusher Jason Gildon could be a problem, as could a very young kick returner named Desmond Howard.

It's a good old-fashioned SNF AFC West showdown! Can the Raiders take revenge for last season's AFC Championship loss?

Spoiler!

I'd like to take credit as your Director or Football Operations for the Deion signing.

I want a raise.

"Good morning. As you know, Deion Sanders has been a huge factor in our 3-0 start. We paid a lot of money for the best free agent on the market, and fortunately that investment has paid off so far.

I'd like to announce today, effective immediately, that Assistant GM Denny Thum has been promoted to Director of Football Operations for his role in the pursuit and signing of Deion Sanders. Around here we call him ThaVirus, because of his infectious personality.

Denny did a great job with Deion, and we look forward to his future role, that will in no way infringe on my ultimate power as President, General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Kansas City Chiefs. Denny brought us Deion, but don't forget that Joe Montana, Marcus Allen, Chris Hinton, Mark Collins, William White, Sam Adams, Lamar Smith, Quinn Early, Ernest Givins and Louie Aguiar are all here because of my insight and expertise, my raw power, as a pro football magnate. Also that Eric Dickerson signing was genius.

The buck stops here, plebes."

Week 4: Giants @ Chiefs

Can the Montana-less Chiefs survive Lawrence Taylor, Jessie Armstead, Keith Hamilton, Michael Strahan and OH GOD THEY ALSO DRAFTED BRYANT YOUNG.

The Chiefs are going to play this one carefully, because fantasyland 1994 Giants elected to bench Dave Brown in favor of Bubby ****ing Brister. Defense can win this one.

Spoiler!

I'm not sure Montana has the arm to take this season. With ineffective play, you might have to play Bono down the stretch if this keeps up.

More worried about him getting hurt.
