Why haven't we sent a spaceship filled with people to possible habitable planets??

I don't understand why this isn't or hasn't been discussed or talked about among our multiple civilizations across the globe??

My answer is because there is no profit from it, but what is your guys' theories??

I would assume there are plenty of people who would be willing to go on this journey and die in space to allow their children's children to be possible "aliens" on a new planet???

I know personally, if the spaceship was something like the movie "passengers" with a lot of vacation vibe built in with drinking, along with restaurants like a cruise ship, I may very well be interested in signing myself up if future conditions permit...

So why do you guys think this hasn't become a thing??? Wouldn't we as a planet be interested in seeing what they find, or what they find along the journey if we can develop a transmission that can sustain the journey??

They should go to the moon to inhabit and see if humans can survive first. Earth isn’t far, and the ISS can be a great place to serve as a go between.

And don't think that isn't in the thoughts/plans. Technology is slowly getting there. We will colonize Mars but it is just taking way longer than anyone ever expected.

As far as making money, there is money to be made in space travel and colonization. We learned so much from just visiting the moon and then all of the subsequent missions (rockets and shuttles). Many technological/medical/etc. advancements were discovered due to those missions.
When will we be able to Terraform?

Even if you had a generational ship that allowed a small civilization to travel between the stars chances are the biologicals would kill each other, mutiny, or their young would decide somewhere along the line they had other plans.

By the time we figure out how to terraform another planet, we will have the technology to fix any issues here at home. It's a noble cause trying to get to Mars and establish a colony; too bad everything about Mars is pretty much the opposite of what humans need to survive. Experiments where people have been placed in isolation haven't ended well, and that's in an environment where people know they can leave. Imagine being on a ship for eight months and a dispute over whom is sleeping with whom breaks out. Or some behavior one of your shipmates is doing suddenly starts to really annoy you. Or the engineer tasked with fixing the ship gets sick and dies. The list of things that can and/or will go wrong are endless. You aren't Chris Pratt waking up Jennifer Lawrence and growing old together.

I'll just patiently wait for CERN to perfect miniaturized portal drives that can power and propel massive crafts instantly anywhere throughout the observable universe.

If anyone that ever took a 14 hour flight to London then had to deal with Hawthorne Airport they would not be making this thread let alone questioning why mass space travel hasn't been perfected as of yet.

Mars lack of magnetic field means it would require insane technological leaps for it to ever be really inhabitable. Going to Mars is really just a vanity project. There is nothing there that is actually valuable to humanity. They'd be better off just building more space telescopes than doing manned missions.

Agreed. Might as well setup a base on the Moon so missions don't have to expend so much fuel escaping Earth's gravity well. There's not much of an atmosphere on Mars, limited gravity, poisonous soil, dust storms, yada, yada, yada.

Mine the asteroid field for resources. At some point, if humans don't destroy themselves, we will need to find a world to expand to. Our technology and understanding of the universe just seem too limited at this point in our evolution.

If we have to build a whole community on Mars indoors because the environment is hostile to our frail bodies. Why not just do that on earth when we **** up our environment?

These billionaires can have their vanity projects. Just quit asking for taxpayer dollars to fund your vanity. Living on Mars is not happening anytime soon/
