Harry's a solid matchup for Ward, though. Not a truly explosive route-runner so I think Ward can hang with him. Ward can be 'out-athleted' on occasion but Harry's more of a 'moves well for a big guy' sort of player than he is an elite athlete.

Fenton on Edelman is another one where I don't think Edelman is a brutal matchup for Fenton. He's not a burner and not an overly physical guy that can just wall Rashad off.

It's far less than ideal, to be sure - but I don't think there are any obvious matchup problems that come from this.

The Raiders w/ Ruggs and Edwards will be tougher, especially with Mathieu probably needing to give Waller a lot of attention and more base fronts needed to deal with Jacobs. Renfrow is essentially a mini-Edelman in his own right.

The Patriots are just FAR better coached than Oakland, but talent for talent on offense, I think the Raiders actually have more to work with.

Agreed, but don’t forget Breeland will be back for the Raiders game.

Harry has had a slow start but caught 8 passes against Seattle. He could have a breakout game soon for sure but also I agree that Ward will hand with him just fine.

Really if we have something to worry about it's our linebackers trying to tackle a scrambling Cam Newton

About 8 weeks seems pretty standard for a clean break on a broken collarbone. Seems a fair number of QBs have had them of late (Rodgers and Foles) but the recovery process appears pretty standard. A few weeks in a sling to stabilize, another few more weeks to let the bone fully heal. At 6 weeks or so you're close to normal and by 8 you're at least in a spot where your odds of reinjury aren't increased.

So I'm guessing 8-10 weeks is probably a fair prognosis. If we could get him back for 2-3 weeks to knock the rust off and figure roles out for the post-season, that's a pretty reasonable outcome.

They'll be fine. Cam isn't Lamar.

Yeah - just wonder if he'll be anything resembling 'football shape'.

I figure he'll be more of a sub player in that first week or two back. I'm not sure how effective he'll be in that regard as he's just not well suited for NCB duties, IMO, but I don't think you can toss him out there for 60 snaps and expect him to get through it without be gassed by the end.

If you figure on 30 snaps or so for Breeland against the Raiders, I think you're in the ballpark.

Yeah he's three inches taller and 30 pounds heavier. I'm worried about him running over our defense and that's a legitimate concern.

At this point in his career he's pretty much a giant Mahomes.

Pat CAN pick up important yards, but he's not going to carry an offense with his legs. The only big difference is how Cam's bulk plays in the red zone and in short yardage situations, but I think the Chiefs and their powerful front can keep them from being able to ground and pound like they did against Oakland.

They can do a lot to keep Cam from really being in a position to punish them. Newton's gonna have to make some big-time throws to win this game and I just don't think he has that in him. Frankly I don't think he ever has. He's just really imprecise.

Which makes him about 50 lbs lighter than our average defensive lineman.

I'm far more worried about guys that can run AROUND our defense than guys that will try to run through them. Our front is MASSIVE.

Cam can try to run through Jones or Pennell or Nnadi or even Clark, Taco and/or K-Pass if he wants. I'd probably advise against it.
