Jones...keep or get a haul?

I'm just going to put this here.

But I see a lot of parallels to the Hill situation. Unquestionably elite player surrounded by JAGs. Potential huge haul in draft capital as well as salary cap relief.

Jones plus whatever dudes isn't getting it done. We won't be drafting in position to properly re-stock LT or DE if we keep him, and we can't afford top of the market replacements.

Maybe we should move him. What kind of haul do you think we could get?

Keep him and make a real effort to upgrade the DL. I'm sick of rotational guys being all we have. We need a ****ing stud DE...the type you get in the top 10-15 picks in the draft. The problem is, we also need a LT like you'd find in the top 10-15 picks.

Only other option is to move Thuney outside for a year while we can find a replacement. Much cheaper to find a competent left guard.

I'd love to see them go get a top flight DE but the need at OT is just too great. I think they gotta do that first.

If we go either in the first round then the chance they would make an impact is minimal.

Wonder what we could get for OBJ in a tag and trade.

Think we may have to go tackle in draft and then a couple of veteran pass rushers in free agency.

If this was Madden, I'd trade away enough picks to get two top-10 picks this year.

He’s exactly the kind of player you give a 3 year extension to…but dress it up like a market resetting 5 year extension.

He’s a unicorn defensive player that you build around.

If we can find a way to add a stud edge rusher opposite George and extend Jones, this DL has a chance to develop into an elite unit in the coming years.

Finding a complementary edge rusher opposite Karlaftis is a HELL of a lot easier than finding a game changing interior pass rusher.

Trading Jones is an enormous step backwards on the defensive line at a time we need to be making large steps forward

Well, we haven't had much luck so far, but our hands have been tied financially.
Thing is, we'll have to pay for it. I don't see getting it at #30 plus. Ngakoue's $15m this year; and headed for double digit sacks. He's the most prolific pass rusher available in next year's free agency.

He's basically the only one available at this point, at least with any consistency. The only other one in that realm is Smoot and he's not quite the pass rusher that Ngakoue is. The one fear I do have about Ngakoue is overpaying.

The rest of the class is a lot of rotational players or major projections. The Chiefs pretty much have to consider those 2 guys and maybe take a poke at a guy like Omenihu or Davenport being an Emmanuel Ogbah type of late bloomer.

With the LT and RT positions being such a problem, it's a difficult spot to be in for the Chiefs. You're looking at tying up every potential resource into OT, DT, and DE and still not coming out with a long-term stud player at any of them. I think concessions have to be made in order to get better across the board.

If you could trade Chris Jones and use what you get back to trade for Nick Bosa and pay him, woudl you do that?

Why would you exhaust more resources for a net-zero return?

That's what you're really doing because Bosa is going to cost more than Jones.

Keep Jones. Danna, Karlaftis. Herring are complimentary DE's. The key to this is Lucas Niang. If he is healthy, and can play at 120% of Andrew Wylie it allows more flexibility to draft DL/OT help.

The chance of getting a pass rushing end at 28 or later is nil. I think a pass rushing interior lineman to pair with Chris Jones and allow the DE's to set the edge is a more feasible approach.

I think you franchise OBjr, tell his agent that if someone will meet the Chiefs price trade him for picks. I just don't see how they can manage the cap with all the contracts coming due
