That's called depression buddy. Go talk to a therapist so they can help you get through it. It might save your life.

I definitely don't feel dangerous to myself or anything, not even a little. I understand that I'm depressed. I'm just so confused about why it's hitting me like this.

Yeah, I fight through it every single day. I made a thread, too. I feel for you, and am deeply sorry for your loss. I guess a lot of people have better advice than me, but I can tell you that you aren't alone...

I'm sorry to hear.
Empathy is powerful. It sounds like you're feeling the loss for yourself, but you're also feeling the loss for others. It's the burden you bear for being a good human being.

I’m curious though, if your fairly close to the girls parents, they never shared with you the cause of death?

Sounds like you need to re-prioritize what's important in your life.

I went back and edited the OP to clarify but we didn't know the parents at all until she passed away. I sure don't want to ask them.

Sorry to hear about the loss of this young woman and the effect it's had on you. I believe that time is the most important factor when it comes to healing these wounds.
As far as religion and your son, I wouldn't worry about that. I'm not religious at all. I don't pretend to know what happens when we die. However, that didn't stop me from dealing the deaths of loved ones. People handle death in their own way and you will find a way to move on. Peace.

Thanks for the clarification, friend. I've been trying to figure that out for 41 years. I've never really been happy. But I haven't been sad like this as an adult.

Thank you. Guess I'm just confused because I think I've always been a good human being and nothing's ever hit me like this before.
