Can't wait for this one.
Cohen is kind of a comedic genius and has some brass balls to be able to do some of the stuff he has done.

And if ya can pull off comedy, then drama is right there. Cohen would've nailed this. But they did a great job with plan b

The film will reportedly blend elements of the actor’s voice, recordings of Mercury, and a sound-alike performer in order to re-create one of the most memorable voices in music history.

“We’re going to use Freddie as much as possible and use myself as much as possible,” Malek told Entertainment Weekly. “I’m in Abbey Road [Studios] right now, if that should say anything to you. I’m not working on my acting.”

Looks excellent. So when you marked your calendar, what date did you mark?

Good but still not Freddie. I've heard enough of his stuff to know I wouldn't want to go see him perform. Queen is just one of those groups I consider it illegal to cover.

I've seen him in concert, and you're wrong.

I wouldn't walk across the street to watch the actual group Queen without Freddie, but Martel will be back with his Queen cover band next year and I'm going to go see him again.

Freddie is still a talent apart. Go straight, no chaser, to the source.

As for the movie, I'm really torn. The greater the artist, unless their story is compelling and unknown as well, the more you sit there just wishing you were watching the artist him or herself. And if the portrayal is off even a little, whether through narrative or through performance, it just gets exponentially worse.

Even the best bio-pics, I'd usually prefer a documentary.

Speaking of which, I've pimped it before, but if it's music and the artists who make them you love, you must see '20 Feet from Stardom'

No matter what, I guarantee the experience of 20feet will give Rhapsody a run for it's money, and that's not a knock on the movie or the band. The documentary is just that good.

I've spent the majority of my life either performing or listening to music, engaging through the years at varying levels of attention and fervor. At this point, I am disquieted to be awake without music going on somewhere somehow in my vicinity. But nothing changed my perspective on so much of what I knew but didn't really know like 20feet.

When I say queen, I mean queen with Freddie. Queen died when he died.

Mostly I agree with you. I don't want to see Boston without Delp, Journey without Perry, Queensryche without Tate, or Foreigner without Graham. But I've seen Martel, and he makes the grade. Short of a time machine, you won't do any better.

And whether this movie is good or not, Martel looks a hell of a lot more like Freddie than Snafu from The Pacific does.

That's the beauty of it all though music is subjective so there is no right or wrong. That said based on what I've heard I personally wouldn't go see Martel either.

If and it's a big IF I were even thinking about seeing a Queen cover band it would be Gary Mullen and the Works
