2019 Free agency Thread

We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

He's old IIRC, but could maybe be had for lessish.

I dunno though, there just so much money out there and so few players.

So could the Chiefs pull off the following?

Cut Houston.
Tag and trade Ford.
June 1st cut Berry.

Sign Landon Collins and Trey Flowers.

If they did that....would they still have money for Hill and Jones?

Cutting Houston and Berry (June 1st) puts us at $47 million in cap space. Pretty sure you could fit Flowers, Collins, Hill and Jones in there. We'd also have the extra draft picks from Ford.

He was drafted the year before Ford but may actually be the same age because Ford actually played an extra year of CFB (medical redshirt). He has a similar injury history to Ford. He has been up and down like Ford but overall, he's been slightly better year to year (lowest season was 2 sacks but also has seasons with 7, 8, 12, and 14).

Ansah was a guy I wanted instead of Eric Fisher. Fisher probably turned out to be the better pick but Ansah has still been somewhat productive.

I could see Daly wanting to bring in a guy who he's coached up over the last couple of years in Flowers.

I mean, **** yea, I have interest in all these guys.

But they're gonna make a lot of money. Mosley will get atleast what Hitchens got last year. Probably more.

That would an off-season wet dream for me.

That same is simply not true of S or LB, both of whom have more separation between the top prospects and the next tier.
Disagree with your premise. I think there are only three 1st round corners in this draft. Normally that would be bad for the Chiefs at the 29th pick. BUT the team needs of the first 28 teams change the dynamic. That and the plethora of D-line/edge rusher studs. I think there's a very good chance one of the top three corners (Baker, Williams or Murphy) will be there at 29. No CBs after that appear to be legit first year starters at the next level. And the Chiefs can also move up to get their corner, if they think they need to do that. You can not overvalue having control of a starting NFL corner for 5 years on a rookie deal. You just can't.

That said, if the Chiefs can't get their CB in the first round, I would not be surprised to see them land a top safety, if available.
