I don't know, I thought Cat 4 was enough. Charlie was wicked for the very few that lived in its small path. We were impacted by 4 or 5 others that year if I remember.

Yes, we were. And we're usually affected around this time of the hurricane season.

Charley was originally supposed to continue to hit Tampa but luckily we were spared.

Yep it took that right turn and came up Charlotte harbor. Wife, 12 yr old son the dog and me huddled together. I have no problem admitting I was scared for all of us but looking back there's something to be said for going through it together as a family. We're stronger for it for sure and we have a healthy respect for Mother Nature.

I also have one of those Big Berkey portable water filters that are used by relief organizations. I can purify anykind of water to survive. Plus my rain tank has water I can filter if need be.

Won't be going to my sister's in Mass since hurricanes have gone there—anything could change. Or brother's in Maine as he's on the coast. Probably, to NH as it's more inland by the time they'd get anything, it would be weakened. That's too far from Foxborough.

I bet this thing cuts just west of Florida which means it may still be Cat4 after leaving Cuba and Florida will get a lot of wind and rain. All of Florida , but it could gain back to a Cat 5 and cut right through Jacksonville /Talahassee. South Georgia will be hit pretty good.

I lived in Thomasville, GA back in 84-88 and never watched the news. Woke up one morning and the place was wrecked. Huge trees laying down in the yard and found out we'd slept through a hurricane. LOL

Well...sounds like the local weather people are saying the worst case scenario is if it goes along the eastern coastline of FL....much like Matthew. The problem with this one is that it is so large that even just off the coast of Fl it would still do major damage.

They gave the Best Case/Worse case scenarios......best case goes into the Gulf and misses FL. Worst case is following Matthews course from last year. If it comes straight up Florida right thru the middle, it would dissipate to a Cat 1 by the time it hit here in Jacksonville but do some major damage in southern Florida.
