be warned, long time residents who have been through multiple hurricanes are very nervous about this hurricane. If you don't have to go, maybe reconsider?

Not particularly the wisest thing.. keep an eye on the path.. it can still move quite a bit and could end up going right through Tampa.

Yeah.. me too. This thing is much stronger than what we usually see this early. I was already surprised by its strength a couple days ago... Now, it is pretty crazy.

Exactly! I just saw the current paths predicted and they're telling even us to prepare—when odds favor us to be missed or get the remaining rains and lighter winds. The authorities can overdo the call to prepare but I'd rather see that, than not. Often they turn out wrong.

I recall when my town was originally supposed to be ground zero with Ivan. I evacuated to a cousin's in SC, only to have it stay out in the Gulf leaving my area as a bright sunny day.

In the meantime, while in SC, down the street a house had a tree land on it from one of the spin-off tornadoes. When I drove back to return, and was on the east coast still driving back, got hit with some of a new one that came in. Most of that season, we just got them as tropical storms instead of the full hit.

I remember that whole season, I just left all windows and sliding glass doors with the plywood up. It was like living in a cave. Wasn't going keep putting it up and taking it all down. I didn't replace my lanai's screened pool cage until just two years ago, cuz I got tired of replacing them after each storm. Just figures now that I did, that a new hurricane could come again.

So I'm gonna wrap up some important paperwork, pay bills, secure all photos that can't remedied with insurance money and get ready anyhow—short of putting plywood up everywhere. I'll just let insurance pay for any damage. Tired of doing that. Besides, I could get a new floor plan if it gets really bad. Always, look on the bright side of life.
