The state of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now what...?

With so much anger built-up with this current regime, I can't help but cheer for them after wanting them to fail miserably.

What kind of state is this team and coaching staff in who witnessed this happen if reports are true? Crennel...a defensive coordinator by heart, obviously spent a lot of one-on-one time with this troubled individual. What is he thinking? Scott Pioli...there are banners flying over the stadium calling for your head, and now one of your men has taken the life of a mother and then himself. What is running through his head. Same goes for others who witnessed this tragedy. How do you continue doing your job in a professional manner...?

I have never been in such a situation, but it is one thing to witness someone take their own life, but it's another to witness a friend take such a cowardly route.

SOC...what now? I support the donation idea thrown around in the other threads. IMO, there should be no more banners in the air for the remainder of the season. Do we now go full-homer and support this team regardless of who is navigating the ship?

Finally...if Pioli and [somehow] Crennel return next season, do you support them after what they have witness has humans.

I could have thrown this in either of the two shooting threads, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on where you stand today with the Chiefs. Are you rooting for them to win the remainder of the games this season and whatever happens with our draft position happens....? Is this a matter of football vs real-life to you and as a fan, you still wish for failure in the FO and the #1 draft pick. Or are you somewhere in the middle?

I duno...curious to hear how others feel right now about the state of our franchise given this morning's tragic events. Where do you go from here...?

Belcher should be fined and suspended.

We have no idea what was going on in his head to say this. Mental illness is a messy thing and it is real. We have no idea and will never know what he was thinking.

Well we really don't know if he exhibited anything prior to this, regardless of how often that is the case. We also don't know if Crennel and/or Pioli spent much time with Belcher. They do have their respective jobs to do. I'm more interested in hearing what his teammates have to say about this. They'd be the ones most likely to have known if he had shown any signs of depression or anger prior to this.

It might cause you grief because it's wildly speculative and accusatory. It's no secret that NFL defensive players are aggressive. It's their career.

You should have strong evidence before this statement applies: "they had it within their power to intervene to prevent such an action, and failed to do so."

Pure speculative bullshit.

Stop trying to project your displeasure with this team's front office onto this situation.

Suicidal people hide their symptoms all the time. We can't blame the front office for not being able to read Belcher's mind. Nobody should be blaming anybody for anything right now.

I blame the girlfriend for not recognizing his symptoms and putting herself in a position to be shot. She should also be charged with child endangerment.

I think he's a billionaire business man who doesn't care about football, the Chiefs, fheir fans or Kansas City in general.

and I think it kinda shows. Forgive me for feeling disgusted when I look through my closet and all I see are red jerseys and red/yellow hoodies.

I feel like a ****ing chump because I have nothing else to wear.

I feel like I'm a sucker who's been duped.
Understandable emotions, but I believe these will pass when we get a new GM and things genuinely begin moving in the right direction. At some point--I hope not too long from now--there will be a rebirth of Arrowhead.

When you factor in everything that has happened under Pioli's watch the past 12 months... the Arrowhead Anxiety article, the reports that morale (both among players and other team employees) is at an all time low and the fact another Chiefs employee was involved in a murder suicide in September, it is reasonable to consider how this all might be related.

Just from a football standpoint, the good news is the right GM/HC and QB can instantly change a franchise, regardless of how bad things have been. See the Atlanta Falcons after the Vick/Bobby Petrino fiasco, see the Saints after Hurricane Katrina, etc.

I'll blame Pioli for a LOT of the Chiefs' troubles...but you seriously can't put this one on Pioli.
