Just read article about likely top 10 busts in round one. An interesting read and compelling argument. Ford is not on that list. I sense the Chiefs have had trouble, or, are nervous about contract restructures here. I would have traded this years #1 last season to Cleveland for Gordon. We wouldn't have lost both Charger games, we would have won the division, played at home, and perhaps, well you know. This wouldn't have been my pick, even though I would have dumped Hali last year. This club needs some money now so when Manning does quit this division is ours. It is sensible to see what they have in Commings, and Kelce too. It's also sensible to prepare for after-Hali rather than leave a hole and pick Dennard, who Manning would undoubtedly baptize anyway. I agree with the guy who said show this kid Derricks highlights. You never know. I wouldn't mind trying to trade Flowers and dump some more salary. Hopefully we can find a guard in the 3rd, Jenkins blossoms and we can pick up some scraps at the end of preseason. What the hell happened to Nico Johnson anyway? Perhaps in the 5th round we can find the next Richard Sherman?

On a positive note, Matt Cassel will have a clean uniform.

Alex Smith is on a 1-year deal. If he gets paid $20M per, this team is DEAD.

There will never be a BETTER time to draft a QB.

That being said, Ford was a fine pick. They didn't take a QB. Now it's up to them to get Smith signed and to a contract that actually allows the team to continue to improve.

Perhaps it is possible they move him down on the line, since he really only has a bull rush anyway, and resign for a far lower cap number.

No they didn't sit idle.

That's exactly what happened. Browns went out and got their guy instead of hoping fate landed him in their laps. He might bust in the NFL, but you know who will eventually find a franchise QB first? The Browns.

I'm hoping he turns out to be something in between Houston and DT...

I'd be pretty happy with that...

You're right. I am assuming they get Smith signed. If not, oh boy.

Bray is the poster boy for 'million dollar arm, ten cent head'. I still hold out hope he could amount to something. It could be worse, I guess. Alex Tanney and Brodie Croyle could still be on the roster.....

My only real issue with Ford is whether or not he can stay healthy for an entire NFL season. All of our OLBs are going to benefit from more of a rotation though.
