He know a lot about the Texans, about their views, about their ineptitude, and about their love for Jack Easterby before he signed. That's my issue. He wanted their money AND he wants out. It just doesn't work that way. |

Watson should have demanded a trade the moment Hopkins was traded. If that's not writing on the wall for how ridiculous HOU front office is, then I dunno what is.
However... You only play in the NFL for so long and as a player, you can't fault a player for looking out for his own self. This isn't about $. Watson wants to be a part of a franchise that wants to win. HOU front office moves have been abysmal. Large part of that has been GM duties given to O'Brien. But at this point, HOU front office has made their bed, now they get to sleep in it.

You can’t tell your star QB to shut up and **** off anymore. They have way more power than even 3 years ago. To be fair the Seahawks and Texans are lead by some dumbasses as well.

Nobody had a gun to Watson's head to force him to sign that deal, especially after all the moves the team made prior to him signing it. Let him sit and not get paid, and when he decides to come back, he can enjoy playing through the second richest QB contract ever (to that point) for a team that crashed and burned on the executive side. I'm not going to feel sorry for him.

I'm not going to feel sorry for him. He's set financially, as a guy in this league with his skillset should be, but he could have gambled on himself on the tag for a year or three. If it worked for Kirk Cousins, it could have very well worked for him.

Let's see what happens with Dak though. He is an example of what happens when a player signs a franchise tag and not a long term contract. Watson risked that as he would have been franchised for sure.

Maybe Arizona should see if there is any interest from Houston in a Kyler Murray + draft picks trade package to get Watson.
Then Watson can reunite with Watts and Hopkins in Arizona to replicate the 9-7/10-6 quick playoff exits magic from their Texans glory days together. |

If Watson and dak were smart they would go the cousins route. Minus a half a billion contract like mahomes got none of these above average but not the best two or three qb’s level. They should sign nothing more then two years at the top rate. That way they pocket cash and make any team that wants their services to surround them with talent and give them the best chance to succeed or it’s on to the next team that will.

As I’ve pointed out before, the Texans have some leverage but not as much as you think. 1) Watson’s stock is super high, at a peak 2) there are QB needy teams with huge pick surpluses, rarely seen, that could make the type of offer it would take (Jets, Dolphins) 3) (and this is the big one) he still eats up the Texans cap. They might be fine punting 2021, but if he sticks to his guns headed in 2022, what re they going to do? Carry a dead cap spot that eats $40 million of their cap? Cut him (and let him go wherever he wants?)

This would be vindication for Bears fans. Plus Nagy is 28-20 with absolute garbage at QB. That team would be really good with a top 10 QB
