Anybody here ever actually run the 40?

Curious to see if we have any other athletes out here.

I don't have a stopwatch. Maybe I should see if one of my friends does and get some jackass to time me.

What's your 40 time?

Hate to bust your bubble, but there are literally thousands upon thousands of white highschool athletes that can run a sub 4.6 40 on an electronic timer. Many run track, many play football, some soccer, and some are just plain fast as shit kids. I ran a 4.67 in high school my junior year at 5'9 and 167lbs, and that was almost 30 years ago. We did have a few "black people" on the team, and one of them was faster than I was, the others were not.
This whole "black guy" thing is stupid. Yeah, there were a few black guys that played football at our high school but none of them were even remotely special and none went on to play in college at any level.

From 1982-1984, I'd guess that somewhere between 30-40 guys played college ball at some level, with a few going directly from high school to big time D-I schools. Most played at the Juco's and some played at the smaller schools like Emporia State, Baker, etc.

I don't recall anyone joining the 1,000 pound club in either 1983 or 1984, although one of the guys in 1984 (and one of my best friends to this day) could have done it easily, especially considering he benched 350 his junior year but by that time, he was burned out on football and weight lifting.

I was there the last time I can recall someone making the 1,000 pound club, which was the last day of school in 1982 but I could be wrong. I've haven't been to that high school since the devastating event that happened in July 1987 and I doubt I'll ever return.

So, because Hootie didn't personnaly say any white guys run 4.5's they don't exsist?

Well I'm white and in college where I played DII football (Lots of DI interest). I was a 245lb ILB and I ran a 4.63 40. Things were looking really promising for me to play beyond, but I got hurt and then became a father. So I quite school to work. 10 years later, I still miss football everyday, but I don't regret quiting because I have the best daughter a dad could have.

I played wr at a major junior college and then transferred to a 4 yr school. I was video timed at 4.34, 4.36, and 4.37 (5'10" 165 lbs). We ran it 3 times and they posted the average for 4 year schools looking to sign juco kids. This was the spring of my Freshman year in college. I was not timed again until our pro day my senior year. At that time I ran a 4.47 on a stopwatch (I had grown an inch and gained 25 lbs). No I didn't get drafted but did attend a couple FA tryouts. In high school I was around a 4.5 which was above average. When I got to college, I learned how to run. A good 40 time is in the start. Master the start and you can run a good time. I am 31 now and have no idea what I would run. I stay in good shape and play basketball 2-3 days a week. I would say I am still pretty fast for my age.

What lifts constituted the 1000 lb. club at your school? At mine: bench, squat, clean, bnp.

If you weren't around 700 lbs with the bench and squat, there was 0 chance of making the wall.

At my school we measured: bench, squat, incline bench, and hang clean. We did "Safety" squat. It added about 150-200 lbs to a free bar squat max.

How did I miss this thread?

I think the one time I ran against a clock I ended up in the mid 5's. I was significantly leaner in those days, heh.

And lol @ Hootie for him thinking it impossible that anyone has any semblence of athletic ability. His e-peen sure does get short from time to time.

At our school, it was Bench, Squat and Dead Lift.

There was a "Wall of Fame" and all three lifts had to be completed in less than 60 minutes with at least one coach present.

Yeah, I've seen college players do ridiculous amounts of weight in the cage (safety squat).
