Why did we kick the field goal with 11 seconds left?

Why not take a shot at the end zone. With Mahomes from the 20 something I like our chances. Take a shot then kick

I was betting that reid told him that.

Makes sense

Some kind of quick out, fade or slant where you take advantage of a 1 on 1 matchup.

From the 30 it's basically everyone run to the endzone and try to get open. They have 7 guys back there and can see the WRs coming all the way.
Every kick butker took at the half was from the 30 exactly. He made every one perfectly.

That ball was planted at the 29 iirc.

In other words I think they were confident in the fg, so noi reason to risk something happening and time running out.

Two possibilities: 1/ Williams ****s up and stays in bounds, gets tackled, game over. Or 2/ Williams gets out of bounds and then you’re still at the 10 and need to be throwing into what’s likely double or triple coverage in the end zone again, risking a pick and the end of the game.

Had Mahomes thrown a pick to end the game there, Reid would’ve been castigated and Mahomes probably would’ve been mentally crushed through the entire offseason. We have the single most aggressive QB in the NFL who has 3rd and short and chucks it 40yds downfield. There’s no part of me that will ever question his or Reid’s aggressiveness in a situation like this.

We can sit here and beat the horse all day about this play. If Patrick throws an interception or Williams trips/falls/doesn't get OB, then we'd all be bitching that why didn't we send it to OT.

With only 11 seconds on the clock the field goal was the right way to go. The only play you have is to throw it in the end zone. The Pats would have just put everyone in the endzone and just out of the endzone. It's too dangerous to throw it into that much traffic. If you have a penalty against you, a 10 second run off would end the game. If you take a sack, you end the game.

The best thing was to get the points and go into overtime. Unfortunately we didn't win the toss. Unfortunately we couldn't stop the Pats or at least hold them to a field goal.

You must not have been in the chat, plenty of us were "Sunday-during-the-game quarterbacking"...

But many will try to cope with this loss by saying hindsight's 20/20...
