The 7th playoff spot only makes sense if there's a quality team.

With a 17 game schedule that 7th team should have at least 11 wins to get in. 10 bare minimum.

If no team meets the requirement, then 1 and 2 seed get 1st round bye and we're not watching teams having no business in the playoffs getting absolutely wrecked in a contest nobody wants to see.

The entire point of the 7th playoff team in each division was to have a MNF game on wildcard weekend. So your idea is never ever going to happen.

There shouldn't be any third place teams (Giants) in the playoffs, nor should there be any teams with losing records (Bucs).

Maybe there should be a "playoff eligible" qualification that you have to be at least .500 and you have to finish top 2 in your division.
