Sell me on Mike Glennon

Right now I don't see anything about the guy that I like.

I haven't watched any more than about 2 minutes of live game footage. I've seen a bunch of highlights of his throws on youtube.

I want to like the guy. I want him to be good so people will stop bitching about how supposedly terrible this year's QB class is, but every time I watch something of his, I get turned off. He's 2nd round material at best to me that will (possibly) get taken in the top 10? Some people even have him as the top QB off the board?

That's pure insanity to me.

Tell me/show me stuff about Mike Glennon that will change my mind. I promise to withhold all preconceived notions about the guy in this thread for the purposes of trying to like him.

Based on the stuff I have watched so far, no. He's NOT better than Geno Smith, and he won't ever be. But I'm tired of shitting on him when everybody is talking him up as potentially a good pro QB.

What about the other areas, where he's dogshit? You know, the areas where the majority of NFL throws occur?

I didn't call you a gay little douchebag.

I'm discussing it. I said I don't care about that graph. It's not an important stat to me or many other people, otherwise that kind of stuff would be more heavily valued and prevalent in the makeup of all QBs.

I think Tyler Wilson is still going to be a good pro. I think Geno Smith, however, will be a better one.

I've got a question for YOU, grasshopper. Why is it whenever somebody posts a critique of Geno that gets refuted, it's "overly defensive?" I added in a bunch of other colorful words to make my point, but I do that all the time. It's nothing personal.

Bridgewater will be exactly like Geno. Last year, Geno put up great numbers, won alot of games. Then, once he becomes overanalyzed, all the talking heads will say he's not worth a first round pick for some reason.

FYI. The guy who got these numbers said he picked like 8 games from last season for each player. These were not based on their career numbers.

Which is why Wilson's percentages are so low.

Bridgewater has a lot of tangibles that Geno doesn't. He has an ever stronger arm with a crazy fast release, and is great running on the throw. He is also a good runner though they don't do options much in Lousville. He also plays a lot under center. If he had Austin and Bailey this year his numbers would have been insane.

So in a year that was the most important for him, in terms of his NFL dream, he was really not very accurate? Ok. I thought these guys had to step up in big games, but I could be wrong.

You are either ridiculously Geno-biased, or just unfamiliar with the absolute shithouse that was Arkansas football this year.

I love that Austin and Bailey make Geno. Yet it is used as an excuse for Wilson that he lost some of his WR's last year, or that Glennon's WR's had stone hands.

It has nothing to do with Geno's accuracy, it's all about those two.

Bridgewater could be good. WILL he be good, though?

Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson, and Tyler Bray were supposed to be amazing this year, and we were supposed to see incredible leaps in production from EJ Manuel, Logan Thomas, and Geno Smith.

The only guy this year who did anything like that was Geno Smith.

Next year's class has precisely ONE QB who can be looked at with any kind of high expectation. Aaron Murray is a ****o. And AJ McCarron can go **** an otter.

Maybe Tajh Boyd can REALLY improve going into next season to make up a decent QB class. Otherwise I see it being treated as a very 2008ish year. And that's with the assumption that Bridgewater will be any good.

I'm actually an Arkansas fan, so I know exactly what happened in Fayetville this year.

Just showing that we have to hold these other guys to the same standards as we do Geno.

And I'd like to actually see Wilsons numbers from last year, because IIRC, he threw a shit ton more underneath crossing routes with better wr's, who went on to make plays.

But, like I said earlier in the thread, I am firmly on the Alex Smith bandwagon at this point.

So all of this, doesn't really matter to me.

Lol.

Bridgewater is already considered to be a potential #1 pick and Heisman candidate next year unless he regresses. I have been following Geno for 5 years and I don't ever remember people thinking he would be a possible #1 draft pick before this last year.

And Tajh Boyd was 36/13 with 10 rushing TDs and just dismantled LSU.

Lousville and Clemson should both be in the top 10 next year consistently.

His accuracy in the intermediate range is not what I thought it would be and could very well be a problem and I think for him the drop percentage is a slight benefactor (Cobi Hamilton sucks), though this holds true for Glennon more than anybody. He by far had the most drops with over 8%.

Something I found very interesting was that Geno threw into double coverage about 3x more than all the QB's and his 4th quarter yards nosedived on this chart.

If anything, this chart doesn't prove that we should draft Geno. It doesn't prove that we should draft Wilson either. It proves that Glennon and Barkley are the guys to look at.

I'm not the biggest Barkley fan, but I would not be mad at all if we took him at 1. I don't think he's getting enough credit.
