Farm living with goats...
Here is a series of videos I took from two days ago on the farm. Had 3 goats get out of their enclosure but thankfully they have no interest in wandering away... they stay right by home.

Most of them are fainting goats with the exception of one.

13 babies so far this year with 1 more momma left to give birth (assuming I don't have any surprises)



I had an inordinate number of bottle babies this year due to several first time moms that abandoned their babies. I did have two experienced moms abandon babies. One because it was in the middle of a snow storm and it didn't thrive and I believe the other one abandoned because another doe came up and cleaned the babies for her. She no longer recognized them.

I have, as of today, 13 babies on the ground safe and sound. 6 did not survive (4 in snow banks and I didn't catch them in time, 1 died during birth, 1 was smothered trying to keep warm).

I had 8 bottle babies... 5 of which I am still bottle feeding. 3 of them have 3 weeks of bottle left. The other two have 6 weeks of bottle feeding left.

Kidding Season is DONE!!!

Cassie just gave birth to twins. These are fresh from the womb babies here. I do not know their gender yet... I don't put hands on babies that mommas are taking care of for at least 24 hours so they don't get rejected and I wind up with more ****ing bottle babies.





The end result this year:

18 babies with hooves on the ground. 10 boys / 6 girls / 2 unknown until tomorrow.

6 deaths. 4 babies were born in the dead of winter and froze to death. 1 baby died during birth. 1 baby was 10 weeks old and was smothered on a cold night.

8 were bottle babies rejected by mom... the rest were taken care of by mom.

The goal raise the number of babies born to a total of 30-40... so I needed 12 more kids to reach that this year. I'll get closer next year but I don't think I'll hit those numbers until 2 years from now unless I bring in 3-4 more does... and I don't want to do that.
