RAPOPORT: Steve Spagnuolo, Dennis Allen, John Pagano names to watch at DC
Just heard on NFL Total Access.... FWIW. https://twitter.com/rapsheet/status/...864004097?s=21
Allen, the Saints DC, is a free agent for those who may read that and wonder. Last edited by pugsnotdrugs19; 01-22-2019 at 05:45 PM.. |

Huh? The point is we should not base staying with a 3-4 or going to a 4-3 on how Houston would play in it. He's gone either way. We save $15.5 million against the 2019 cap by cutting him.

Well, the character similarities with Sutton didn’t work out. Maybe he actually needs a polar opposite on the D side. IDK if Rex is the answer, I’d like to have more options to research. But, really doesn’t seem like a deep pool to swim in either.

I mean you have two 2nd round picks sitting behind Houston and Ford. If there was any time to lose them, now would be it. Spend that money elsewhere, where you literally have almost nothing (Corner, Safety, Inside Linebackers, etc). Ford could be fools gold in a contract year for all we know.
Otherwise, what was the point of spending two 2nd round picks the last two drafts on Kpass and Speaks? For no reason but to bust and never play/develop? |

Ehh, switching from end to OLB is tough because they have to learn how to take coverage drops and things of that nature. But if you go to a 4-3, you’re making Houston/Ford’s job easier, taking coverage out of the equation.

Switching to 4-3 has infinitely more risk then finding a new 3-4 coach. You want it to turn around next year you stay in 3-4

I think Houston converting to DE in a 4-3 is a way more realistic switch than Dee Ford suddenly becoming a WLB covering RB's

Garafolo specifically mentioned Spags on Total Access just moments ago. Sounds highly possible.
