NFT: If you have up to $45k to spend on the next car

Got hit this last week and may have the current vehicle totaled out, which isn't a bad thing since I'm pretty well above water on the loan/value ratio.

So, while I'm waiting to find out if we go the "totaled" route, I would need to move fast on the next vehicle.

Desired Specs
4-5 seater
4 door
Fast (300+ hp)
Looks cool
Car or SUV, not a Truck or Van

Bells/Whistles
Air Conditioned/Cooling seats (it's hot in TX)
Backup Camera
Decent interface/console

Age
Ideally not "Brand New" so I don't eat the cost driving off the lot
If 4-5 years old, then the vehicle better be worth it

Cost
Top end of budget is $45k
Can also be lower for the right car, as it would reduce current car payments

Since this happened out of the blue, what should be on my radar?

You can get a 2016 retractable hardtop Z4 roadster for well under your target price. It's only 240 horsepower, but it's not carrying around a back seat and stuff so it'll work great. Plus, I found one in a beautiful Valencia Orange for $33,500. The retractable hardtop is a must-have. I highly recommend it.

Always loved those...Almost pulled the trigger on this exact late 90s M Roadster (below) 316 hp/3.2. They are pretty rare..and have actually appreciated. Could have driven it for almost free.. and flipped it 5 years later.

Yeah, those original Z3 hardtops are really rare. I wasn't really into the look of them versus the convertible (or the convertible with the lift-off top), but I'm sure they're collectible now.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. Been smooth talking my wife into buying one next year. The SRT comes with 475 HP. They look awesome and plenty of room. You can get a 15-16 model for around $35-45k.

My 2011 Sonata, before they nerfed the 2.0T, was a great car. In around 2013 they re-tuned the motor and brought it down to around 255 HP for some fuel economy standard shit, but mine was 274 and you had enough low-end grunt for legitimate torque steer if you weren't paying attention. And it did it on 87 octane.

Traded it when the twins showed up but when I move to an SUV I'll keep the Palisade and Telluride in mind because of how good a car the Sonata was.

I had no intention of getting one; just test drove it because the incentives were good. And it was simply a better car than the Maxima, Camry, and Mazda 6 alternatives I was looking for at the time (was driving 35-40K miles/yr).

So like I said, I wouldn't sleep on 'em. I'd drive one and if it's not what you want, no harm done. But I'd at least drive one if you can get past the lack of badge equity.

And jeeps top of the trim leather feels niiiiiiice.

Not sure how long it would hold up, the super soft leather is either ridiculously expensive or it just doesn't last as long. And Jeep's clearly isn't super expensive at their price point.

But I was damn impressed by the Jeep as well. The Trackhawk just looks ludicrously fun and I'm betting a year old version comes with a hell of a discount.

Just couldn't pull the trigger after hearing I missed it and vthe dealer wouldn't budge on price. Told me they would never do that rebate again. Needless to say they did and I drove straight there to buy it with cash in my pocket and when I got there it was in clean up already sold. 3 minutes after opening on the 1st of the month...

I think that's the model my neighbor had. It would straight up get after it.

I wouldn't ever do it because I'm 6'3 and they have made cars for 5'8 dudes for too long for me to even give them a look. But that car burned hot.

Hell an old guy here in town sold a 15 with 366 miles on it for 45 iirc.

And I put most of those miles on it. He only sold it because I wouldn't drive it more.

I'd wait a bit on a 'vette until the mid-engines can be found in the wild.

It'll drop the price of that previous generation quite a bit, IMO.

The new 'vette is !@#$ing sexy, man. If that thing drives like it looks, that's a supercar for $65K.

those things look great. I'm not sure the cockpit is big enough for me to be comfortable.

I'd probably rather just roll a zl1 Camaro.
The Camaro is more comfortable imo

I had my wife convinced that I could pull off a ZL1 if we kept an SUV. Then we had twins and the dream died.

The red one with the black cowl and then I saw a matte slate finished that would both turn your head. !@#$ing thing is essentially a street legal race car.

It'll be my next one.
