Does this allow Mahomes to shine with subpar players around him

Anybody check out the Mange recently? Are they all giddy about this deal like the dumbass in the video is?

The Chiefs got an insane deal for the best player to ever live. They have all kinds of cap flexibility with this deal. Pat clearly did his part to allow Veach to put great players around him for years to come.

Of course they're not going to see it that way. Kind of pathetic. They're still holding onto hope that Mahomes really ISN'T as good as people say he is.

They know. They are hoping Lock can lead them to wildcards. Imagine if it were reversed. Probably have to stop watching. Even with prime Elway Chiefs were always very competitive against them.

I've seen soooo many people online saying the Chiefs are "stupid". I don't get it even from a haters perspective. What were the Chiefs supposed to do here? Not extend him? "Sorry Patrick. You're too expensive. We're gonna go in another direction" I'm sure everyone would've been calling the Chiefs smart if they did that right? This was the only move to make. They were obviously going to extend him and it was obviously gonna be a huge market setting deal. People are just bitter as hell.

I had my cousins in this weekend (from Denver). All I heard all weekend is how they think Lock and Mahomes will be the new Manning/Brady match up. They honestly think he is going to be the best QB in the league in the next few years.

Man I don't miss the revolving door of QB's I hoped against hope would end up good.

It really is pretty telling of how desperate they are for a QB.

Look, I'm a Mizzou guy and I really like Drew Lock. He has a big arm, he has some swagger/confidence, and he's athletic. He throws a good deep ball and a really, really good seam route. He's tough and will take a hit to deliver a throw.

I think his upside falls somewhere in the Matthew Stafford range. But he still has enough questions that the floor is "average- to below-average starter."

His accuracy on timing routes and short and intermediate passes over the middle of the field is questionable. His performance late in their season last year was pretty pedestrian outside of shredding a weak Texans' defense.

He's got a long way to go before we know where he's going to land. I'm going to guess it isn't on the 10th floor (Mahomes-Rodgers-Brady-Manning) and isn't on the 2nd floor (Blaine Gabbert). 6th floor (Matthew Stafford) seems about right.

There is essentially one season where we're paying big money for a QB and they aren't. After that, Lock plays on the tag or gets a new deal making a butt ton of money for inferior production to Mahomes.

It's a valiant effort, but it's just not going to be good enough. They're going to fail.
Some team is gonna try to break this cycle by just drafting a new QB every 3-4 years, sitting him a season and starting anew.

If you don't have a top 5 guy, there's very little reason not to try it.

Paying $35 million for 'continuity' is just nuts.

So Lock is going to not only catch up to Mahomes' level of play, but surpass it? Your cousin's are tards. Sorry.

Elway can certainly try.

Again, he's going to fail.

Someone please tell him that Drew Lock is his QB and he's got a better chance of seeing his own dick without the aid of a mirror than he does of seeing the Broncos beat the Chiefs in the next 5 years.

Broncos with Lock will be like the Jay Cutler Bears in the late 2000’s having to go against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers every year.

That will make it even better
