*.* NEW- 2014 General Fitness Thread *.*

I guess we filled up the old one... http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=280149

Welcome to 2014! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

No one else started it so here it is!

**From the 2013 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

I always find it funny when I see guys doing direct forearm work but using straps for everything. If they switched those two around, no straps for everything and no direct forearm work, I bet their forearms would be bigger.
versa grips are awesome for back work. they let you really focus on pulling with your elbows and feeling the movement. you can always do grip and forearm work on the side, too. I dont use them on deads though, just back movents that i have a hard time feeling it.

weighed myself for the first time in a couple months today. started in March at 294. My last weigh in was in May at 274. Today I am at 262. I also quit smoking a month ago.

I wish I had known earlier how beneficial lifting was to losing fat. My thoughts at the beginning were that cardio= weight loss. Im glad a guy at the gym set me straight. strength is way up and i feel so much better. Im shooting to be under 250 before my 30th birthday in February.

I also have my diet straitened out. Im hovering around 2600 calories a day.

I lurk on this thread for the most part, but this thread helped me out a ton just reading through it all.

Don't be afraid to join a workout group to increase and help you stay consistent. You can certainly surpass 250 goal!!! I've seen it happen

Nice work. Lifting is by far and away the best bang for your buck. You can build muscle and lose fat. Same can't be said for cardio.

I'd drop those calories near 2,000. Really no reason you need more than that if your goal is weight loss and you're that heavy.

Just stay consistent. That's the biggest way to hit any fitness goal.

The only way to do HIIT is in the burning hot sun listening to the Rambo 3 soundtrack.

Otherwise it's SHIIT (Slacker High Intensity Interval Training).

I have a date tonight she wants to get drinks. If I have 1-2 whiskey with diet cut would that hinder my cut if I stay under my cal limit?

No. If you want to go local/carb, though, do a Tito's and water with a lemon. Literally tastes like lemon water.

What does classic physique entail?

And by all means, you look good to me. I'd take chest veins like that in a heart beat. That kind of dieting ain't easy. Good work!

The shorts you see with 5 mandatory poses and a routine. Supposed to be a throw back to the Frank Zane type physique before shot got too freakish. Kind of a tweeter between Body building and physique..and I train legs and didn't want to hide them under board shorts although I did both classes.
