Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

Or maybe a super cool middle LB. Those are totally worth the first pick.
The tragedy here is that the OT in this draft, Joeckel, is nowhere near the prospect of guys like Okung, Kalil or Thomas. Just resign Albert and be done with it. It's not going to take huge money and then you let these guys grow together as a unit. Keeping the offensive line intact is one of the more important things you can do in terms of protecting your QB.

Te'o is not even close to being the guy that Willis or Kuechly is, simply for the fact that he's a Mike backer or a 43 MLB in the mold of a James Laurinaitis at best. (Which isn't a bad thing as JL is a very good player, but he's not elite and I'd argue that Te'o doesn't have the same level of instincts that JL does/did at the same stage.) Plus we have a Pro Bowl level guy on the inside as well in Johnson. I almost hoping that Reid's DC is a 43 guy so we can end this Te'o bullshit before it gets any closer to draft day.

Jarvis Jones is a Jerry Hughes clone - great instincts without the elite burst. Plus he's got the injury history. (And the neck injury is a serious concern.) And god forbid that we've got two very good rush ends on the team in Houston and Hali. Waste of a pick on so many levels.

Lotulelei and Hankins are NT's. And more of a gap controller type than, say, an upfield distruptor in the mold of Suh or Dorsey or McCoy. And considering that we've spent three of the last five top Chiefs draft picks on defensive tackles, anyone who thinks we should pick Lotulelei or Hankins can go **** themselves with a pitchfork.

But yet, you've got a guy like Geno, who's been a three year starter, put up ridiculous numbers, is prototype size, superb delivery, great arm, excellent accuracy, very good pocket presence, etc., and he's not worth the pick?

The only thing that this is is a post Luck hangover and people are thinking that that guy should be in the draft every year.

And Geno isn't that far off of Luck in terms of his intangibles and skill set as a NFL prospect.

****ing idiots who just think that the only way you spend an overall #1 on a QB is if it's John Elway.

Guys, Charlie Casserly is the ultimate True Fan.

He's old school for starters.

And he drafted David Carr #1 so he's firmly in the " it's too risky" camp because it ended up costing him his job.

I'm a big Aaron Murray fan, but I love me some Geno Smith as well. In a perfect world I wish we could take both and let the best one win the job.

The process of evaluation always elevates the QB's who were doomed by their defense, O-line, coaching, etc.

They can evaluate accuracy, quickness, intelligence, leadership, character, etc.

I'm confident that Geno Smith will emerge. But I'm equally confident that Reid/Dorsey/Heckert will identify the best guy.

If you're making pick a FA QB to have as a veteran presence on the team, I'd rather have Alex Smith than Michael Vick. But it's all meaningless horseshit without drafting a QB, too.

Geno Smith (or whomever they think the best guy is) MUST accompany any Free Agent QB.

A question for those people who think Smith is the clear cut #1 QB in the draft:

Does your opinion of him change at all if he does not participate in the Senior Bowl?

If he's being told he's already the favorite to go number 1 and thats where he's being projected, why go to the Senior bowl?

I would like him to go though.

No. My opinion of him doesn't change.

However, if Tyler Wilson participates and shows well, he could pass Geno on my list.

If Smith is advised by his agent to participate in the Senior Bowl and he plays, his agent is clearly worried about his draft status.

No. He isn't going to magically become a different quarterback if he plays in a different one-off game with a week of practice and a bunch of people he doesn't know.

The quarterback he is, the accurate, mobile, strong-armed, heady guy with a release that would instantly be top 5 in the NFL, has been there all season. Besides, who ever thought of taking a quarterback number 1 because he had a good Senior Bowl?

Every perceived flaw he has is either correctable or a result of garbage playcalling.

He's the guy.
