Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

I bet a lot of people were high on Todd Blackledge too.

i think you (Claynus, Sweets, Pawn, snr...) would be happier shitting on each other dicks than shitting on the CHIEFS

Hope your karma doesn't stick to Mahomes and we found a QBoF after Alex

I didn't think he would win a single playoff game.....so He has exceeded my expectations....The thing about it is, even with that I still would trade the last 4 years for a different swing of the bat...BUT we may still have ended up more or less right where we are anyway and possibly without a couple of playoff game experiences and that win in HOU....So hey...I really have no complaints. Yes I wouldve rather taken a different vehicle to get to this point.....but the ALex Smith subaru got us here in 1 piece..

Out of curiosity (honest question), were you and other 49er fans expecting Chiefs fans to be more welcoming to the idea of trading for Smith? Did it surprise you that the majority at CP was upset that we acquired him? Or were you already used to it with the hate he received in San Francisco?
I can only speak for myself but I pretty much knew there was going to be hate wherever he went because he was largely blamed (in SF and in the media) for the shit-show that was the niners for years. And that's much of the reason I became so invested in his success. Everyone looked at him to be the savior and when he wasn't, he was instantly vilified. It wasn't that he just didn't live up to expectations, he was burned in effigy. And through all of that, he never turned on the fans, he never pointed his finger anywhere else (and there was plenty to point a finger at), he never talked disparagingly of the organization which delighted in throwing him under the bus, he just wore it, and continued to go out there, and do the best he could. I got into the habit of defending him. Habits die hard I guess. I would just like to see him win the whole damned thing.

- Smith was not capable of winning a playoff game, then
- Smith will never make a pro-bowl, then
- Smith would not be able to continue his success because the league has figured him out, then
- Smith will not be able to lead the Chiefs out of the cellar,
- Smith would never get the Chiefs to the playoffs, then
- Smith would never win a playoff game with the Chiefs, and of course the final two
- No team can get to the super bowl with Smith under center,
- Smith will never win a super bowl.

So... that's fine, I get that you guys have no faith in him, and hope he dies in an aids infested dumpster - that's also for some reason on fire - whatever. But I've enjoyed following his career and still think he has enough to check those last two off the list with the Chiefs.

Breaking: Alexsexual hopes Alex wins the whole thing. News at 11.

Would the Alexsexuals enjoy a Madden franchise where I attempt to drag Alex to a Super Bowl?

Surprisingly, it was a really good trade for KC. Alex won me over. However, Patrick should have been starting half way through his rookie year. That's the hill I'll die on.

After the Jets game in early December, I thought for sure Andy would start Mahomes.

Yup took over a 2 win team won double digit games every year he was here except for 1 and we still won 9 that year. Broke the winless playoff streak. Really hate how his career ended if you'll recall he had that dumpster fire of a franchise with a winning record at the time of his injury. Came back from said injury and helped them reach the playoffs. Really hate hearing the news about his kid. Alex is a good dude and didn't deserve the Cassel level hate he got on here.

This was almost 10 years ago. When I think of “10 years ago”
I’m envisioning the Dick Vermeil era.

At some point I got goddamn old.

Thank you, Alex Smith.
He also took a 1-15 team and lead them to 11 wins his first year here with Dwayne Bowe, Donnie Avery and Anthony Fasano as his starting pass catching core.

While he was the catalyst that lead to Mahomes, he also helped us all forget about a toxic era of Chiefs football very quickly.

He is a Ring Of Honor inductee in my book. All day.
