Chiefs bring in a pair of DEs for a look

So according to ChiefsWire, the Chiefs brought in a pair of DEs/OLBs for a look yesterday, Nate Orchard and Terrence Fede. Orchard actually was a member of the Chiefs at one time, but has most recently spent time with the Dolphins. In four preseason games, Orchard recorded seven total tackles including four sacks, and during the preseason was considered their best pass rusher. He was cut before the 53-man roster, possibly in relation to Miami's plan to tank earlier this season.

I have no recent info on Fede, perhaps someone could help fill the blanks.

So the question is simple: do we like either of these guys?

The full story below:

His college career (18.5 sacks in his last year), his draft selection (51), and his limited NFL performance at times suggest that he's a quality DE/OLB. He has the right size (6' 4"/255lbs.), etc. My only question is, why hasn't he stuck with a team yet? You'd think with his physical attributes and level of play, he'd be a fixture somewhere?

Orchard prolly has the inside track, and he fits better as a 4-3 end than a 3-4 OLB last year.

Ah, okay so when Orchard was a Chief we were still a 3-4 defense; Sutton probably didn't like how he fit back then.

Yeah, he was a Chiefs last year, 2018. Looks like he was a KPass kind of player; Sutton didn't like them for some reason.

Probably not a bad idea with Ogbah out. There's a lot of benefit to depth on the DL in a 4-3 and when Okafor's ankle is still seemingly iffy, having another guy to rotate in couldn't hurt.

Probably gonna be an inactive either way, though. Not a lot of room on the gameday roster. With their willingness to kick Jones out to DE, they may not see a place for him unless they sit Ivey. Hopefully Spags has learned his lesson on Pennel.

Hopefully they inactivate Ivey and start another DE.

Between Jones, Nnadi, Saunders, and Pennel, DT seems covered.

With Okafor andOgbah out, we're kinda thin at DE. Right now we're using KPass and Chris Jones to help out there since we're deeper at DT right now. And IMO, the defense was better when Okafor/Ogbah were available. On 3rd and long situations, Spags could have the option of Clark and Okafor/Ogbah outside, and Jones in the middle, creating a kind of 'pincer' attack.

Bringing in another decent DE might revitalize that concept. Maybe anyway; it's all speculation until it executes on the field.

He sounds awesome ! But somewhere there's a problem with him. Maybe sitting idle was enough motivation for him to play like an MVP candidate.
