The Great Denver Fire of 2018

So we're in our office today and all of a sudden we started smelling smoke. I'm talking really strong smoke, like you were standing in front of a campfire. We started walking around looking, because something was clearly on fire. We were thinking it was our building.

Eventually we figured out that it was a building 12 blocks away from our office. It was on the opposite side of our high-rise, so we couldn't see it, but ash was falling on our building. It was an apartment complex under construction and I don't know what happened, but it went up like a torch really quickly while the workers were inside. Six other buildings caught on fire near it, and 30 to 40 cars on the street were destroyed. The construction workers were having to jump off of it, and one person died. Pretty amazing fire.

https://www.denverpost.com/2018/03/0...fire-powerful/

At the 38 second mark you can see the big high rise in the background that's half a block from my office.

Man, not gonna bag on ya RM, but the balls to put the words 'died' and 'amazing' so close together. That's a mighty sense of detachment.

I was misquoted.

I was pondering the proper adjective and couldn't think of the right one.

I could go with that. Or maybe 'frightful'.

It's a very dense urban neighborhood. It made me wonder if you could have a sweeping citywide fire in the modern world. My house was actually closer to the fire than my office, and the houses in this area are often less than 15 feet apart.
