Jack Ryan TV Series

I like the look of it. I think John Krasinski can pull it off.

I can’t remember if I mentioned this series but I’ve been psyched about it for at least 18 months.

Krasinski is going to kill it at Jack Ryan.

This is going to be an amazing series.

I just stumbled across the trailer/preview while wandering around on YouTube. It's definitely one of my favorite fictional characters and I think Krasinski comes across well as Ryan in this little bit that I've seen. I thought Alec Baldwin was decent enough in The Hunt For Red October but I haven't really been pleased with anyone doing Ryan since then.

I LOVE The Hunt For Red October. The acting, script and direction are top notch. It's one of those movies for me that when it comes on, regardless of the time of day or night, I just have to watch it. Alec Baldwin admitted recently that he really screwed up in letting that role go. As much as I like Harrison Ford, he just wasn't Jack Ryan to me.

I'm probably in the minority but I didn't mind Ben Affleck or Chris Pine as Jack Ryan. But I think that this is the perfect format for Jack Ryan - 10-13 episode seasons on a network like Amazon.

Kraskinki's a fantastic actor and I think he'll do the part justice.

Oh, yeah. One of my favorite movies. I read most of Clancy's stuff back in the 80's/90's. I got to attend a seminar hosted by someone who consulted him on the book, regarding the real incident that the book was based on. Fun stuff. On of my more enjoyable USNR duty weekends. So when the movie came out, and it had Sean Connery in it, that was just too much to pass up.

I still don't think anyone has really nailed Jack Ryan yet but I enjoyed Baldwin's take. I didn't mind the other actors really...I just wasn't all that impressed with their interpretations. Not so much a negative reaction to them, a just a "meh." But something about Krasinski in that trailer. I just have this feeling that he's nailing it.

The Hunt For Red October was excellent because it remained fairly loyal to the book and because Baldwin captured the essence of Ryann - an analyst pushed into an action scenario. Ford is an excellent actor who probably captured that essence as well, but do to his history as an action type actor it is hard for me to not see him as such. I still enjoyed the films he played Ryan in, but think they would have been better with Baldwin (and staying closer the source material).

Is Dr. Steve Piecznik the real-life individual Jack Ryan was based from?

Anyone watching yet? I'm a few episodes in and have been underwhelmed thus far. I'm new to the Jack Ryan character so I'd like to hear from someone who is a fan of the character. I do like Krasinski.

I've read most of the Jack Ryan books. Some of the dialog is taken direct from the books. Some events are the same but changed to Muslims and terroists instead of Russians when the books were written in the 80’s. 4 episodes in so far.
