Yeah it's great. Good food. Lots of things to do and places to visit. Very safe and lots of good people to hang out with. Nice showers with cold water.

You should give it a shot sometime man. You don't know what you are missing.

Prison is mostly a govt run excuse for free labor. Most people don't belong in prison for trivial offenses. Or the sentences are too long for what ever they did.

Most of those shows are bullshit. The people they interview are the people I hate most in prison, idiots who think they are cool because they're in prison or rats.

I disagree with most of this post. Pretty uneducated to be honest.

On a side note - do you mind the prison questions? I don't want to bring up negative memories. I'm just genuinely curious about prison life.
Maybe they do in some prisons, I've never seen it. I've seen it made in trash bags and butter containers stolen from the kitchen. Also peanut butter jars and other various bottle type things. Mostly trash bags though in my experience.

I don't mind the prison questions. I hate that place but I don't really mind talking about anything in life. I'm a pretty open dude, when I shut up and keep things in I start falling apart generally.

Fine. Youre one guy. You went to prison. Doesn't make you a critical authority about govts origins, inner workings and intent. Did people deserve longe sentence over weed or other drugs? Of course not. Govt just takes advantage of how stupid and compliant the lazy citizens are to authority. Most of what the legal system is allowed to do is completely unnecessary. But the wealthy need to exercise authority to keep the common man at bay.

Not one time in my life have police ever been helpful or necessary. And they are obviously useless in bad neighborhoods. they are just tax collectors with guns. They beat up people for verbally disagreeing with them. Judges tell you, you are in contempt for asking questions. The rule of law is one big elitist scam.

I have a close friend who went to prison for child rape. He didn't and took the "fall" for some "friends" of his at the time. He was 18. He wasn't a model citizen in his youth and probably would have ended up in jail at some point. But not for 15 years.

His points are, you get accustomed to it. That becomes normal life. You can do well, per se (still in jail) and understand the system and work it to your advantage. You get comfortable like Brooks.

When he got out, he really was tempted to repeat to go back. What kept him clean was the lifers inside that have no chance at a real life anymore. He now had a chance at a real life and if he screwed up and landed back in, they would think "what a piss ant, you had another chance but blew it".

He didn't want to go back and face it.

He has done well. He has a tough row to hoe but he is appreciative and works many jobs to make ends meet with his family.

He got screwed in life with one decision at 18...for his "friends".

You also have no understanding about govts intentions to/for controlling the populous. You simply think there's 2 sides to a debate and of course govt would never lie to you, right?

You worship the State.

You're one guy who has never been helped by the police. I know a lot of people that have been helped by the police. In bad neighborhoods. You're right about some of the drug sentencing. There seems to be quite a few corrupt laws designed to keep a certain sect of the population down.

You're wrong about the free labor thing. At least in Missouri and Kansas State penitentiaries.
