We're getting some more Klingons. I am interested to see where they go with this. Personally, I like the idea of the houses all having slightly different physical appearances. I am curious if this is going to be a way to recon the appearance of the original Klingons seen in TOS.

This. The Klingons are the absolute worst thing about Discovery and it's not even close. That idiot should be beaten to death by Gorns.

I can't imagine they could possibly make the Klingon makeup worse. It's not even the lack of hair or grey-black skin for me, it's that the makeup is so thick the actors can barely move their faces. If all they did was scale that back it'd be a huge improvement.

I don't mind the Klingon appearance mainly because every race is far too humanoid looking. In TNG, we find out the reason that is, but it took place millions of years prior so there probably would be a great differentiation amongst the physical appearances. TOS to TNG was a crazy difference in Klingons, and I feel TNG to Discovery was nearly the same level of difference.

It's not only the appearance that bothers me - it's the way they talk. The deliberately slow speech patterns. What the **** is up with that? Do Discovery Klingons all have speech impediments?

Supposedly that's the "intended" way for Klingonese to sound like given its creators accounted for actors speaking through prosthetics and heavy makeup.

I didn't like the modernization of the ships, but I understood the need for it - younger audiences would think 60s era sets and designs were lame. The uniform changes annoyed me, but I could deal with it. But what the did to the Klingons - that was just flat out ****tarded. |

Nearly ever Klingon scene I watch in Discovery tempts me to fall asleep. All of the crazy ****ing lunatic warrior charm of the 24th century Klingons is nowhere to be found. If that's what they're actually supposed to be like, then **** that alien race. And **** the show, too. |

True, but credit that a lot to the writing of those episodes and the guest actors Paramount brought in moreso than to any inherent quality to what you were seeing and hearing on screen. I hear you on the makeup that is a far departure from both generations of television and the first four sets of feature films, but I think it's a valid reason for the fictional language to have shifted somewhat among incarnations (if that's truly the case: I took that from a redditor comment and reddit is basically the epitome of astroturfing in a lot of ways now).

Just kill it. JJ gave us a shitty Trek universe anyway. Let Tarrinto make a one off film though.
