Yuck.
I don’t like the LDT trade, and I really don’t like the Bell signing. I don’t see Ford being signed for that amount when he can get more on the open market, he’ll be tagged. |

I'd rather draft Baker, and a huge NO on bell, but if those re-signings actually happened I'd be elated

I'm pretty amazed you're fitting this under the cap, unless you're structuring contracts to take the Chiefs into cap hell in 2020 and beyond.
I also don't get why you're signing a FA DE and then drafting 3 more to replace Bailey? Somehow you're not really addressing much of the defense either, standing pat at safety and linebacker. EDIT: Also, I'm not sure about the pick trade up to get an extra 1st - a late 2nd and at least another late pick in the 2020 second round too? Usually you treat following year picks as being a round worse, so you're basically saying you're trading a late 2nd, a late 3rd and another 3rd round pick for the 13th overall? |

1. The Chiefs are likely to get a 6th round compensatory pick according to preliminary calculations.
2. If the Chiefs trade their best interior offensive lineman, I very well may lose my shit. While the line has held up, there is a noticeable dropoff in both pass pro and the running game. LDT stays put. 3. You're showing here, yet again, that you think the worst problems are DL and CB and go overboard in filling those spots in my opinion. The Chiefs are losing Bailey and could stand to improve the depth, but I can't fathom them making more than two pickups: replace Bailey and upgrade the depth spot previously vacated by Jenkins and not adequately filled yet by Hamilton. Adding 3 CBs seems a bit overzealous as well when you're talking 2 picks in the first 2 days plus a premium FA. Dennard isn't top tier, but he's not the bottom of the barrel either. Not only are you doing that, but you're trading away 3 potential starters to go up and get Murphy who doesn't appear to be so good that he warrants that type of trade. He's not a Jalen Ramsey coming out by any stretch and I wouldn't have done that type of trade for him either. 4. You don't address the two biggest holes on the defense. The safety position is abysmal outside of Berry actually being healthy and you can't count on that. The ILB position is equally bad. Hitchens made a ton of tackles this year, but not very many were impactful and even fewer were behind or at the LOS. He's also a significant liability in pass coverage. O'Daniel has flashed occasionally and shown he may be able to at least assume a nickel linebacker role, but I'm not sure you can trust him to develop into an every down starter either. If I'm not going for a guy I think can be a day 1 starter, I'm at least going for another O'Daniel to improve the depth and possibilities. 5. I"d really love to see how you imagine fitting Ford and Bell along with extending Hill and Jones to those contracts is going to fit under the cap. Not only that, you're not exactly giving Dennard and Anderson peanuts. Even if you manage to fit it into 2019, I'd imagine you're going to have a mess in 2020 that is likely going to force you to at least cut or extend Houston with a restructure of 2020 salary and cut either Watkins or Berry and possibly both. 6. I don't knock the players you chose in the mock draft at all, and I rather like most of them. I'm just not sure that's how I'd approach the draft from a positional standpoint. |

I know you’ve had the LDT trade in all of your mocks recently but I think you should leave that out moving forward. It just doesn’t make sense.
He’s one of the best pass protecting guards in the league and under a solid contract for the next 4 years. He’ll probably be considered as underpaid by next year the way guard contracts have been. We’ve got to do whatever it takes to protect Mahomes. He is priority #1, his health is priority #1. So getting worse on the offensive line intentionally makes no sense here. Veach and Reid simply aren’t going to do that. |

Have any of you guys that keep dreaming of signing Bell ever seen him play? His style is very specific to big, mauling offensive linemen. He waits, and waits, and waits, and then makes his move.
He would be dogshit behind this line, and the style of blocking we do here. He's maybe the worst fit of any of the say, top ten running backs. He's good, it's true, but a terrible fit here. |
