So what makes him a supposed QB guru/successful developer of young QB's? That's why the Jets hired him, to develop Darnold.
McCarthy has a track record of successfully developing an NFL QB... Aaron Rodgers. Yes he developed Rodgers into a Super Bowl MVP, despite how it ended for McCarthy in Green Bay, that fact cannot be denied.
Gase hasn't developed anyone in the NFL.
He failed in Detroit in 2007 as their QB coach.
He failed in San Francisco in 2008 as an offensive assistant
In 2011 as Denver's QB coach with Brady Quinn and Tim Teblow? Are you giving him credit for Teblow throwing 5 passes a game and getting out of the way of Denver's defense/running game?
In 2012-2014 he was Manning's glorified intern in Denver.
In 2015 Jay Cutler (a veteran QB) had an average year in Chicago
And he failed to develop Ryan Tannehill in Miami.
That is Gase's resume.
QB Coach/Offensive Assistant/OC/HC with five different franchises over the past 12 years and he hasn't successfully developed a single NFL QB.
But apparently he just needs more "opportunities".
