The suicide thing was classic Hogan bullshit. He was trying to get himself sympathy after he got caught badmouthing his son's friend who ultimately died after that car accident.
He used to say he was sitting there with a gun in his hand, ready it end it all, when Laila Ali called and unknowingly saved his life. Then the gun became pills. Then after Gladiators ended and he had no reason to put Laila over anymore, the story became that he decided not to kill himself after fans approached him in public to express their love.
Hogan's so full of shit, I don't even think he's a racist. He said "I'm a racist", so he can't be because nothing he says is ever true.
