In the scramble aboard the ship, you threw yourself into a lifeboat as it was being lowered. You later reported a fear that you would be shot, but you were dead anyway if you didn't try. But hey, you survived.
At least some of your group survived because they were Swedes, but I'm not sure how many.
You went back to the Dakotas and became an unlicensed chiropractor, moving frequently to keep from getting arrested for practicing without a license. You eventually found a home in South Dakota and stayed there (presumably still practicing without a license).
