I'm a fan of older and traditional country....Most of the stuff coming out the past couple of years outside of some like Brad Paisley is crap imo. Garbage. I'd rather choke most of the newer artists on the radio pretending to be country than listen to them.
that said, I'm on a big "red dirt" kick lately.
My favorites by far right now are The Turnpike Troubadours. I've seen them live twice and they are outstanding.
My little girls love them and can sing quite a few of their songs front to back.
I really like their entire last album, but the new one has some great new songs, led by Gin, Smoke and Lies
This song is about the Illinois River near St Louis
Also really enjoy Jason Boland and the Stragglers, The Dirty River Boys, and I Like a band out of Missouri, The John D Hale Band. He's got an awesome version of Lights of LA County.
