Spoiler!
I think, by ending the war and pardoning Burnham, they might be evolving it toward being a more traditional Trek show. Which sounds good, but their attempts is that direction haven't been that strong so far (I'm thinking of they Harry Mudd standalone and the peace planet one). I feel like if it was staying true to the show it has been so far, the solution would have been to use L'Rell to start a Klingon civil war.
Also I was fine they showed the Enterprise. Canon, or at least visual canon, is completely out the window at this point anyway. That said, I didn't love their take on it. It's truer to TOS Enterprise than the JJ ship was, but the detail is really heavy-handed and John Eaves-y.
