It is one way to get on the birth certificate and one way to better one's chances of getting custody of the child. I mean, I wouldn't get married for that reason and if I worried about it that much, I probably wouldn't be with her; and there are other ways of getting the kid, but I don't trust the system and I would want every obstacle in front of her to try to take the kid, as I feel the courts side with the women too often. She might not want to fight over the kid, don't know her.
No, I am NOT criticizing anyone who does not get married or has a kid outside of marriage.
