I would think if the Rays moved across the Bay and played in Tampa they could do much better, much younger crowd. It's a working town vs St. Pete, a retirement town. The Lightning average 19,000 a game in downtown Tampa, and tickets are much higher than for basement. The Rays are lucky to get 10,000 to a game. Of course, they would need a new stadium and with the summer's being so rainy, it would be best to have a retractable roof like Seattle or Houston. I remember as a kid going to Spring Training and minor league games in St. Pete and it was so nice to look out and see the bay and the skyline. The Tropicana Field Dome is so gloomy, they need to let the sunshine in if it's not raining.

If it's not Tampa, I would explore cities that support other major league franchises like New Orleans, that would keep the team in the same region. Other such cities would be Nashville, Indy or Charlotte. I don't think players like it in Canada, much higher tax bracket for them.
