I worked as a landscaper at what is now Overland Park Regional Center in 1980. Eleven straight days of 100+ temperatures, one day below 100, then 6 more days of 100+. I wonder how those sort of days and temps would be reported now?

Spent the winter of 80'/81' in Gloucester, Mass. out on Cape Ann, working outside, welding rail road tracks together. About a month stretch the temps bounced around 10 above and 10 below, remember one day wind chill was like 25 below. Damn wind blowing in of the Atlantic at times made it that much more miserable. Spent the previous summer in Texarkana in those MF'ing over 100 temps welding rail out on the line.
As a young man I think I dealt with the winter the best. At least you could dress for it. That summer was brutal.
