Would be awesome if that's exactly what happened.
Like, let's say Reid retired after winning another Super Bowl this year, and the job went to Bieniemy. There's not a Chiefs fan among us who wouldn't say that's a good move. As far as Reid assistants go, I think Bieniemy is way up there in terms of his view of coaching as teaching and being a leader who sets expectations for his team and for himself.
But we'd lose the experience (for sure) and it's honestly really nice to have such an innovative play designer like Reid. Year in and year out we're guaranteed to design something brand new that teams have never seen before, and we know that because every year teams get caught off guard by that innovation. Bieniemy might be a good designer, but I don't think he will approach being a guy who pushes the envelope quite like Reid does. And that would be fine. With Mahomes, we wouldn't need any of that shit.
All of this is speculation, though. Who knows if Andy will last that long, but as long as things are in order, I don't think Andy plans on retiring this year or the next. He knows what he's got now, and he's not going to just let it go simply because it's an appropriate age for him to call it quits, and everybody expects him to stop coaching because he's really fat.
